He was just trying to keep it in the US version so y'all wouldn't have to run to Wikipedia.

Americans are definately not lacking the attitude of screw the rest of the world this is how we do it...and we're americans...so it's better.
As for some of the arguments that its too hard to change and people would be lost...if we just switched are stupid. The army teaches high school drop outs the metric system all the time...and they get it!

Yeah... what's up with that? They teach in school using SI units, then you walk over to the grocery store and everything's in lbs, etc. At least they didn't mess about with the temperature system.

WTF? Switch over already! Actually temperature is the only thing you can change in the Zed without having to go to the dealer. |

It's the gas. Or more specifically ETHANOL. The cold start issue was one of the primary reasons my '04 3.0i got bought back by BMW. It was back when the problem first surfaced and no one was really sure what was causing the cold start issues.
Funny thing was right when BMW was about to pick up the car from me, the car stopped having the cold start problem because I had just moved to a different area and started filling up at different gas stations.

Also, there are countless documented threads on M3forum.net about this cold start issue. So it's not just happening in Canada :-)
As for my experiences, I filled up at Shell/Chevron stations when my 3.0i was having cold start issues. After I moved to a different apartment, I started filling up at Shell/76/Safeway stations. The engine fired up with no hesitation on its first try every morning.

lol. No I don't fill up at Safeway. It was more for the experiment's sake. No idea where they got their gas from. Although I would've thought all all gas stations in a certain range of area all get their gas from the same refinery?

If I remember - Caddy had mentioned something about the alcohol content in Sunoco's 94% stuff on Z4um.... I use Sunoco 94. I am going to switch to shell and see what happens. Darn - I have half a tank to go....

I'll check those M3 posts... Do you know if anything was anything ever resolved? Anything from BMW? Quote:
I'm on Petrocan & IIRC Caddy is on Shell. - funny I noticed an ethanol sign at a Petrocan last week, for the 1st time. Tried the pause in Pos 1 this am, no difference, which supports GP20 above

I'm ready for a fill today I'll give Shell a try.
In the new ont regs it looks like 5% eth is a new requirment, but it's ambiguous how it's applied.

It's a total of all fuel pumped so Shell is playing a numbers game to keep our high octane crowd with maximum energy!

Except wasn't it Shell who had that problem recently with some additive in its gas causing people's gas gauges to act up? I think it affected mostly Chryslers though. |

Just filled up...
Shell has a label on the pump.. Bronze up to 10% eth Silver up to 5% eth V-Power ZERO eth Couldn't find anything on the Esso site... not sure what they're doing, but it should be labeled at the pump. From talking to a few others.... I think Petrocan recently bumped their eth content for the summer months. Their signage says up to 10% eth... looks like for all selections.
