http://store.bimmerworld.com/jaffste...nob-p1184.aspx FYI - 24hrs later, and I'm still loving the new shifter. Seriously anyone with a short shifter kit, this knob is a MUST imo. |

If you take your car on the track you won't even think about the aesthetics.

Got mine installed today.
This is a great combination with the AS SSK. Shifts are a huge improvement, light & effortless. Looks like crap but works like a dream.

That's a great review and help for us who got their cars not long ago. I've been kind of disappointed by the first to second shift so I will be getting new engine mounts, trans mounts and as ssk. I don't care about the looks but the enjoyment of driving should be there no matter what. I will be adding this to the list.
Thanks for sharing |

Here's what mine looks like now with a custom boot. It will likely be coming out & FS over the winter along with AutoSolution ssk.

Got engine mounts, trans mounts, header install kit, the shifter and the AS ssk. So what's left is x pipe, exhaust cans and intake. |

Aesthetic calamity, but functionally sound.
Only thing is that I've never bought into the whole weighted knob argument. They do that as well on the Solstice and after I installed a short shift kit, I tried a weighted knob to see if it made anything better. It didn't, and in fact I ended up using an NOS Lamborghini knob I had kicking around (spare for a car I'd sold) and found that even with that lightweight wood knob I could shift with two fingers with essentially no effort. But if it works for some people, especially on the track, why not. |

Yeah, that's what I'm considering.
It's going to take some serious modding of the console though.

Also very interested in your shift boot if you put it up for sale. Looks like a perfect match to my door panels (alcantara w/ light blue stitching). Think I'll hold off on pulling the trigger on a tri-stich boot for now.
