I actually never paid attention to that. You could have it come out more if you like the look of it. It would not effect the function of the silencer. You can also have it come up to the end of the tapering we put on the inside of the tip.

yes same here.... if OP doesn't do it, ill do it on mine when they reach UK side. must buy for that true dual use, also I've had to come off track due to the car being too loud, on those tighter stricter places i can just bolt these in. Ian can you do me a favour please, once you've fitted yours would you mind taking a measurement from the tip to the hole you drill so i can mirror what you've done. if you could do that id appreciate it :-) I'm not going to paint or coat mine, ill let them naturally coke up, i don't intend on using them THAT much, more for long trips, yearly inspections and on low noise tracks.

Hey all,
I have been traveling for work. I will post pics and measurements tomorrow. I believe it was around 3.5" back on the tip. You can't go back too far. Only as far as the stainless is folded over. And you do not want to block any gasses going into the smaller tips. I do not have a way to measure reduction in volume or drone, other than to say it's significant. I think my wife will ride in the car again! I'm am not sure it would come through in recordings. I know the sound clips I listened to did not prepare me for the volume in real life. I also used a specific stainless bit. |

For me , love the look, exotic tone and light weight. this makes it a dual purpose system. Quieter for street And max performance for track

So, my overall impression is the following...~30% reduction in volume, maybe more. 75% reduction in drone. I am happy with both the highway and city driving. I would say they make city driving perfect and highway driving much more manageable, but there is still some drone on the highway. I still have some vibration in the car between 2 - 3k rpm. I may take another run at the DKF hangers next spring to try and reduce that. Overall very happy.

can't even tell its in their.... Really look forward to doing this modification to my RPI. i love them but after a while they become plain annoying during city driving or long motorway trips, sometimes i literally start speeding to get home quickly, lol.

ian please post pics and give some advice on the "drilling" process.. i have a feeling it won't be as easy as my brain is telling me while on the car.

This. Also, I wonder if it is better looking to drill from the top to hide the bolt. Obviously this wont be possible to do while the exhaust is mounted, but I think in the end it would look better.

drilling from the bottom doesn't bother me, the car is that low its impossible to see the bolt hardware, infact i think it would be more visible from the side. i just want to know how easy is it to drill, as from experience drilling into a steel pipe isn't easy without it being done via a bench drill, usually with a hand drill it will walk all over the place and make mess.
