RussRamz,
Can you attach some additional pics of your rollbar/cage? I've been thinking of having one fabricated locally and some additional pics would be helpful. Thanks. |

I'll be posting pics of my harness bar when I get it all sorted out and put in. Just in the process of getting the seat mounts built, lightweight battery mount built and my secondary cat delete... yes, I took on too many projects at once. hahaha |

Rollbar
Here are a few pictures I took this afternoon. They were difficult to take with the lighting, but I hope they convey the installation.

This link also shows some pictures of the installation in the trunk before the trim was reinstalled.

Photographing this proved to be unsuccessful. I would need to remove my Recaro seat. I inspected the wiring and found the sensor mat was connected (it contains a small little electronic module) and is unique to the newer BMW autos. You might be able to order one without ripping apart the seat, but I don't plan to ever reinstall the OEM seats so I didn't care. The driver seat is a nice game seat now...

I'll pop some pics of my install as well for you to peep. I actually posed a couple pics in the Gerneral forum under the "Installing Recaro PP's" thread. B |

Yes...let's see them.....
Russ...wow I can't believe that the cross bar goes in front of the center console....doesn't seem like enough room to make driving comfortable. Maybe with recaros the clearance behind the seat is better. I think if you did that with OEM seats your chest would be against the steering wheel. |

Here's the outside drivers side mount I built... that upside down T bracket holds the stock seat belt anchoring plate.

http://www.wiechers-sport.de/ They offer two options for the Z4. One is a roll bar like mine and the other is a full cage. They will also do a welded cage, but the car needs to be completely stripped at their facility to do it. Eventually, it is the route I will go...

Hey Russ... does your the back of your right arm ( tricep ) hit the seat when you shift ? Mine does and after 2 days... it's kinda buggin me. hahahaha Note to self : Accept the new lack of practicality, you asked for it !
I think I need to move back one setting and maybe tip the front up a notch as well.... might do the trick. |

I put one of those in a couple months ago...def makes the shifts better and crisper. Maybe I just need to adjust it and make it shorter so the throw is a little less. I'll figure it out.

My car is running well with the changes...
Quick observations: KW Rocks! TC Kline sucks (at least for the 'ring) StopTech works well Nitto NT-01's are on par with Michelin Cups and even slightly superior wet performance (neither are good) TR Motorsport wheels so far and strong enough...

Thanks! I paid roughly 800 Euro for the 1/2 cage. I may pull it this winter and install a full cage.
