Ahem.
Golden Gate Chapter of the BMW CCA will be hosting a 1 day school at Laguna Seca this coming weekend. Says the crack dealer to the addict.

There will likely be a Thunderhill school in October/November time frame, and I believe there will be another Laguna Seca one day school in the latter half of the year.
Again, says the crack dealer to the addict.

Sounds like you had a blast. Short of always needing new tires, I love autox and DE's!!

Fin, Kitty, and/or Hack: Please lemme know next time you guys go to a local track. I'll try to make it out as well, if I'm not already signed up beforehand
March 28th and 29th @ Laguna with Trackmasters and April 11th & April 19th @ Laguna with NCRC for anyone that's interested... Also, just FYI, NCRC does offer instruction, but at some additional cost. I'm going to see if I can start instructing @ Laguna in return for some track time Sup Chun! Finally found you on the forums. You ninja you lol |

We are signed up for the Solo group with NCRC at Thunderhill on Friday, April 1. And THIS time we are going up the night before so we don't have to wake up at 4:30am!

To the OP...
Why did you mention NOT to push Sport Mode? Having brakes and throttle respond quicker is quite nice on the track. How about DSC. I take it off after 1st or second session... or leave it on in the wet. Glad you loved it. Glad you both have M Coupes to track... My first track event is in May at Watkins Glen... The wait is killing me. |

^ I'm not a fan of sport mode at the track either.
Not sure what you mean by brakes & I find that H&T is tougher with a quicker gas pedal that tips in near the top.

^ I don't use sport mode on the track either. The throttle is way too twitchy and can cause unwanted oversteer at the wrong time.
I am use to the throttle with it (sport mode) off and with the sport mode on, your shift timing has to change.. |

Tony, you may have much better feel, precision and control over your right foot that I do! Hey, that's why we have two modes! I say use what works for you--that's the bottom line IMO. |

At the last BMWCCA track event (three weeks ago) I put fourth the question to 10 different CCA instructors about 'sport mode'.
Every one of them said the same thing: Don't use it, too touchy.... |

^i've grown so accustomed to sport mode off tt i've almost never used it. with the stock ecu, sport is too sensitive/twitchy even for spirited driving use, and i find the modulation of throttle position to be far more difficult because the range of travel's been decreased in sport mode.

Oh well... to each his/her own. I rarely use it while daily driving. Way too twitchy, I have to agree. But at the track I got accustomed to it and see a difference on accelerations and the millisecond quicker response makes going back to non-sport feel sleepy. (slight exaggeration here). At slow speeds, it doesn't help' but at higher speeds, the sport mode is good.
As for braking, correct me if I'm wrong but I notice a quicker response there also. As if the brake pads are closer to the disks so that contact is done, again, milliseconds faster. |

This is the first thread that I have heard that 'sport mode' initiates better braking.
As written in the owners manual the sport mode button does these things: Tighter throttle control. Engine responds quicker. Non-M Steering enhancement. Automatic transmission: Sport program is activated. |

My butt swears to God that Sport mode makes the car actually pull harder
But yes, same with everyone else, I typically don't prefer using it @ the track. Only when there are 458 Italia's and GT2RS's to chase HD Pix will be posted soon in a separate thread |
