Sadly I can say that no solution has been offered by Evolve at this point. Several solutions have been attempted thus far (so I've been told) but no success. I will keep you guys posted on any updates.

Buy Air Box without Programming. Purchase Supercharger programming from ESS (or another company), get the fuel and timing maps redone by tuner, profit?
Long way to go about it, but you'll get the Alpha N tune done without (hopefully) any hiccups |

Personally i'm looking to you Evolve's air box because their kit includes the tune. But if they cannot get it tweaked, I may have to go with VAC's Kit and find my own tune like ESS or something... Would really prefer the Evolve kit though. .. . .. . |

Evolve has been here at Zpost recently promoting their GB.
I'm sure they would've posted an update if they fixed the issue. |

VAC does not have a kit despite what their website says. I had my airbox installed at VAC (because they put in camshafts at the same time). They said they used to have a kit, but it never panned out, and they just haven't taken it down from the website.

Has anyone ever driven their z4m without the maf plugged in? It ignores throttle input under those circumstances. Almost certainly related.

Once they release the brake, the throttle works normal again.... Definitely a great idea, and checking all relations of the MAF to the throttle and brake assemblies and pcm functions is definitely a good place to start. Great idea Angelr I wonder if i can find some pinouts and sensor function maps for our cars.... hrmmm.... |

I've been watching this thread for a bit now as I'd love to go with an evolve box myself when finances allow (if i can resist the urge to boost it). I was checking fuel trims and a few other things on my m the other day and while driving around with the maf disconnected I noticed that the car would ignore any throttle input whilst the brake pedal was depressed...figured it's a strong possibility that they are related. Not to assume that evolve isn't already aware of the relationship but you never know. They are replacing the maf with the speed density setup but the ecu doesn't know that as such.
I have a shop with diag, tuning, dyno and fabrication ability so I spend some of my down time screwing around with stuff. In fact if I can convince myself that I'll still be able to track it, the m may end up turbo charged in the near future. The tuning hurdle should be something we can overcome given our ties with various tuners, some of whom are very well versed with the oem architecture. |

That's pretty interesting there. I wouldn't have though about that. I apololgize, i didn't even think that you would have actually check on that relation. That's my fault and I apologize for being disrespectful about that.
I wonder... For those of you with this issue, do you still have your MAF laying around? if so, would you mind plugging it in and seeing if this corrects the issue? I'm talking to my BMW guys and seeing if they can get me a funtions and pin out diagram of the MAF, T/B and PCM so i can see where the relation is and why it is there. I know mazda's (where is work) the MAF and T/B are connected, as well as the alternator for some retarded reason. Used to get cars coming back after air filter jobs, come to find if you don't connect the MAF sensor completely, the light comes on. Plug it in, bam, all fixed. |

Hrmmmm, a second thought on this.. just had a reverse brain fart (if that makes sense.)
ESS uses alpha N for their tune as well. I wonder, (since i dont' own one i dont' know) could it be they leave the MAF plugged in just for the IAT sensor (that's built into the MAF)? This could be what keeps everything right for them... They Run an AlphaN, use the MAF internal IAT, and since the MAF is plugged in, it doesn't trip the throttle ignorance. ****Any Supercharger guys chime in on this?**** But with the VAC Air box, You remove the factory MAF completely, and run the CSL IAT on the side of the box. These deletes the MAF portion, which actually DOES trip the throttle ignorance portion. So in theory, You could split the wiring by unpinning the wires for the IAT, run those separate for the CSL IAT in the Box. Then leave the OEM MAF attached and hidden somewhere so the throttle works as designed. ( the PCM/DME would ignore it even if it's plugged in due to AlphaN Programming.) Now, if this theory all holds true, then i wonder if there's a way to reprogram the computer to ignore MAF signal so the throttle continues to work without the MAF plugged in. It might be easier to find at this point, considering we would know the exact cause. |

No worries C-los I didn't think it offensive in the least.
Your post follows my reasoning and the reason I posted about my observations. Hopefully it might assist with getting this sorted for those affected. I know I wouldn't be happy if I didn't have that ability. |

You guys should check with Epic... word on the street is they have a tune already made that works and from some pics I have seen on the net user "sixspeed" is already using it.

FWIW, I emailed them awhile back asking if they had a map for our cars since they do tunes for e46 alpha n, but got no response if they had an e86 alpha n tune.
