"Should I get a manual car next?

It's something I've been contemplating for a few months now. I'm still a good 9 months away from my lease end, but I've started the process of thinking about what to get next, and had the thought, this might be my last opportunity to get a new manual car.

I've never actually owned a manual car. I do know how to drive stick, but have only had limited experience driving one for an extended time (last time was 9 years ago, I drove a puny little peugeot 107 in Greece). So my fear is will I eventually get tired of it... or will it be so engaging that I'll wonder why I wasted all these years driving automatics?"
Yup.. so the decision was made and I ended up placing an order for a manual G80 M3. Now I'm just hoping I get it this year...

You might find manual transmissions have changed in the decade or so since you've driven it. My F80 was 6MT and it's semi cheating. Throttle blips for you, hill assist, and I'm sure some other things I'm forgetting.

When you put it in full M mode though, you can turn off all that and have it revert back to just you rowing the gears with zero assistance.

Point is, I never found it unbearable - even in Los Angeles traffic.

I rowed manuals for decades and really enjoyed them until my left knee went bad. Your knee is the variable.

Rowing the gears is NOT fun if you're in bumper-to-bumper traffic all the time. That was the case for me when I owned manual cars while living in SoCal. I've grown to like DCT equipped cars ever since and I'm fine without having the third pedal.

And the Omega Spring in an older 911 is really bad, i.e. my wife would not be able to press it in, which is not a bad thing

Yeah my brother just recently bought a new civic si. When I drove it I was shocked, it almost felt like an automatic. Absolutely no fear that I'd ever stall from being rusty.

In contrast I recently rented an Evo X on turo and the clutch on that was freaking brutal.

Or, you could have me do the break in for you.

I'll have to live vicariously through you. My history thus far for bmw has been

E92 M3
F10 M5
F80 M3
F90 M5

So technically, it should be G80 but I went another way so I may end up missing this iteration.

Can't fault you for skipping the G80. It's a controversial look to say the least

For me, I wanted a manual car with usable backseats. So my options were limited... G80, or Cadillac CT4/5 V BW was pretty much my list of options.

I've never been a big Caddy fan and their interiors always leave a lot to be desired. So G80 was the natural choice. Also helps that I don't mind the looks.
