Thought I would post in here to announce that Vibratechnics is working on getting a trans mount made just for the Z4 similar to the E46 parts.
I wanted to see how many members would be interested in a part like that. and if we had a good group if we could get a discount price out for you. |

I'd be game. Not right now but i would definitely be interested in both a road set of the engine mounts and a proper transmission brace.

Having just installed the road mounts in Nov, I'd be interested in the Tranny mount as well. The motor mounts transformed the car - even if the tranny mounts do 20% of what the motor mounts did, i think it would be worth it.

I am interested.
I think you would be better off starting a new thread, the 16 pages of this one make it so many won't read through it anymore.

I think anyone that has experienced the motor mounts will appreciate this potential GB on the tranny

Sadly, I just ordered the RE tranny mount. I have the VT motor mounts, haven't had a chance to install them yet.

I would probably be in, even though I have the REs with not many miles on them.
Assuming the price is reasonable and VT can make a case as to why theirs are better than RE. And we don't want any of this going on. Not to toot my own horn, but I would suggest that anyone doing trans mounts extend their A/C drain hose.

Is this mount for Z4 M only? I have 3.0si would like to try this.
The vibra-tech web site says this part is replaces OE part # 11811140985. I checked it with getbmwparts.com and it shows that 11811140985 is for 2007 and 2008 3.0 non-M models. But then this part was superceded by part 22116779970. So maybe it fits? Anyone actually tried? Last edited by thelinux; 01-28-2014 at 01:18 PM.. |

As far as I know, it only fits the M, However I see you are in Irvine, if you would like to check with one of my parts in hand against what is in your car I would be open to do that for you.
Just let me know. |

AFAIK, the M did not get any special M mounts, they just carried over the old ones.

I'm looking for some installation help.
I just started (finally) installing my mounts. I'm also installing the Motorsport 10.9 bolts and nord-locks at the same time. My question is around torque specs. Specifically, I'm trying to confirm which bolts need 21 NM of torque and which need 59 NM + 90 degrees of angle torque? I suspected it would be the single bolt that goes into the rubber mount which requires 21 NM, and the 4 new Motorsport bolts which connect the bracket to the engine block would require 59 NM + angle torque. When I uninstalled the old bits though, I'm finding that the bracket-to-block bolts on the driver side were fairly loose while the top motor mount bolt took some effort. A quick confirmation would be much appreciated! |

From my notes it's 21 Nm for the brackets to the block and 45 Nm for the top and bottom mount bolts. No additional angle.
The 8 reinforcement plate bolts are 58 NM + 90°, rear first, (single use bolts, YMMV).

Thanks. It seems really weird for those big grade 10.9 bolts securing the iron engine block to only have 21 NM of torque.
No wonder they work themselves loose. |
