Does anyone here appreciate Ferraris? I sure do.
Introduced at the Paris Salon in 1964, the 275GTB featured a 2400 mm (94.5-inch) wheelbase and a 3.3-liter V-12 engine of 280 horsepower (although in those days, Ferrari may have placed a thumb on the scale of the dyno.) The engine could be specified with three Weber carbs or six. The transmission (transaxle) was at the rear. Alloy wheels were standard, but the traditional Borrani wire wheels were an option. Later cars (1965-1966) had detail changes, including a slightly longer nose. At the Paris show in 1966, an improved 275 with dual overhead cams per cylinder bank and 300 horsepower was introduced; all the engines now had six carbs. The four-cam 275GTB/4 can be visually identified by a hood bulge. No matter the variant -- short- or long-nose or four-cam, the 275GTBs are highly desired.

I sure do too...and the 275GTB is my favorite. No matter the viewing angle, it's a beauty to behold. What for me though it's the look from the side...from that view it features the complexity of a windshield like no other leading to one of the sleekest noses ever shaped.
The first photo is of George Harrison behind the wheel of his 275GTB. |

As an aside to the 275GTB/4 Berlinetta, I will add the drop-top version. The U.S. distributor requested an open version of the 275 and ten cars in that form were produced in 1967. The 275GTS/4 NART Spyder is among the rarest of the rare.
I think I agree with 3798j, though: The 275GTBs are just about the prettiest Ferraris ever. Rolling works of art.

doubling up on the Studebaker vibe...
My buddies 1948 Studebaker Starlight Coupe w/ Nissan R32 Skyline conversion/resto-mod. He was just going to swap the 2.0L Turbo into the Studbaker, but after doing some measurements, it may more sense to put the entire front engine bay under the Stude bodywork. Suspension/brakes, everything. He then found a rear subframe from an R32 as well so it's all Skyline underneath. Audi S4 exhaust and he put the R32 gauges into the Studebaker cluster ![]() |

Near the end of the road for the Studebaker brand, the company gambled on a futuristic 2-door called the Avanti. The running gear was basically standard Studebaker fare, but the styling was way out there.
The Avanti featured a fiberglass body. It was introduced in 1962 and built through the end of 1963. Fewer than 5,800 were built. The engine was a 289 cubic inch (4.7 liter) V-8 of 240 hp. The standard transmission was a manual 3-speed. A 4-speed and power steering were optional. Another option was a supercharger.

Here's another interesting fact about Avanti.
Avanti Motor Cars had a significant but short-lived production run in Youngstown, Ohio, from around 1987 to 1991, after local businessman J.J. Cafaro moved operations from South Bend, building new models like a four-door sedan on GM platforms. The plant produced a few hundred specialty sports cars before the company faced bankruptcy and closed its Ohio facility in 1991, despite plans for expansion. While based in Youngstown, the company produced the iconic Avanti coupes and experimented with new designs, including a distinctive four-door sedan. GM platforms and components, including Chevrolet chassis and engines were used, a departure from the original Studebaker design. The Avanti's time in Youngstown represented an effort to revive the classic American sports car using modern technology, albeit briefly, leaving behind unique collector vehicles and a memorable local business story.

1931 Bugatti Type 50 cabriolet. 65 Type 50s were built from 1930 to 1934 in several body styles. They were powered by a powerful 5-liter straight eight engine and were very expensive, starting at $8,000-plus.
