Those are installed pictures ? Cause from what I can see the M has the same exact cross brace as the non-z4m the diagonal brace going from high to low ? Now I wonder why whomever posted that it doesn't fit, had those results.

EDIT: Went back to page 12 and read the post again; apparently the brace on the Z4M is slightly different in terms of mounting mount and locating (forward/back). That was a pre-facelift Z4 I wonder if the 06+ have the same problem.

In an effort to put this Z4 Non-M myth to the test, I pulled out my front grill and removed my OEM intake scoop and took a handful of pictures. Anyone with a Z4M want to take similar pictures or coroborate whether or not your guys' cars look the same? Or someone w/ an RPI scoop can you pull out the scoop and take pictures? Same with the guys without the scoops, if you can take one of your Z4M without the OEM scoop we can get to the bottom of this. Thanks in advance.

I dont know what to tell you guys. One of you came in with a non-M and watched me try for half an hour trying to get it to fit. The factory scoop is the same but the clearances are different.

Eloy, did you get a chance to look at the pictures I took? Does it look the same as the insides of the Z4M? if you need any other angles, shots, etc let me know. I'll take a look at the RealOEM.com schematics for the front end of the pre-facelift and the facelift and post my findings.

Hope Good Doctor doesn't mind, I borrowed his shot of his Z4M with grill off and RPI scoop installed and pieced it together with a shot of my car with grill off with OEM scoop. Slightly different angle and distance of picture but they look identical to me. Eloy can you confirm whether or not my car's inner's are identical to the 2003 you tested? If someone has a stock Z4M w/ stock scoop and can take the same photo and post it I'd greatly appreciate it. Comments on similarities even if you just take a peak and compare that's great too. Thanks

P.S: Ignore my terrible photoshop erasing skills.

Just checked RealOEM.com the hood latch brace which is the part in question right now has the same identical part number between the 03 Z4 3.0i and the Z4M. In fact the entire front bumper supports, mounting points and brackets are the exact same.

The part number for the support bar is, 51717063833

Lol. I dont know how many times I have to tell you guys. Its DIFFERENT. hahaha. Its off by about 1 to 1.5" and its enough to disrupt the shape/pattern of what makes the scoop affective. I've seen all the pictures and they DO look the same. Thats why I had the non-M guy come in so I can do a test fit. Didnt work. It will have to be a different design. Then, I would have to test to see how affective it works before offering it for sale. Now, if you guys want to do a groupbuy on the non-M version, send me a test mule. .....oh and make sure its a manual trans. hehe.

I'm not trying to prove you wrong Eloy, I'm just trying to figure out if this is a pre-facelift problem. My car is a facelift so that's why I am wondering. Upon further inspection the DEFORMATION ELEMENT LEFT/RIGHT that the bar bolts to IS DIFFERENT between the 03 Z4 3.0i and the Z4M THAT is where I think the difference is. They have different part numbers, the 03 Z4 3.0i one was used up until 01/06 according to RealOEM.com. Further I checked my car, 2007 Z4 3.0Si THIS one has the same identical part number as the Z4M which leads me to my conclusion that the Z4M one will fit ONLY with the facelifted POST 01/2006 Z4.

EDIT: Just spoke to Eloy, heading up to RPI on Tuesday of next week. If all goes well we'll get the scoop fitted and put my car on the dyno. For all you 01/2006 and up Z4 guys (facelift) if goes as planned you guys can start ordering the scoops through RPI as well. Did all the busy work for you guys now we just have to wait and see if it all paid off. More updates to come.

Thanks for all the hard work you're putting into it, but sadly it still leaves us pre-face lift guys out of the scoop.

Any 03-05 guys that can have Eloy use them as guinea pigs? I'd be more than happy to do it, however I'm way on the East coast and in another country. :P

rpipower.com and raceprecision.com both mirror the same site. Our site IS down right now. We are working with the host/server to solve the problem. Once the site is back up, Ill add the z4 scoop in the engine/fuel section for BMW.
