My man! Doing the Daytona Coupe has been on my want list for many, many years. Got to drive a buddy's around Road Atlanta some years back and that just locked it in. Very cool....

The Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa was produced from 1957 to 1962, with just 33 cars built. It was a competition-oriented model with a 300 hp version of the 3-liter V-12 engine. It's among the most valuable of vintage Ferraris.

This one is a 1957 in black & red.

I saw the trip meter before the odometer and thought "holy smokes!"

Still super low mileage regardless. Love the color.

Yes, many trade hands with 80K+ miles for $100K. This one is certainly beyond the reach of mere mortals.

1953 Chevrolet Suburban Carryall; this truck has been breathed on nicely -- two-tone paint, 5.0 V-8 engine (I'd bet it had a six originally), etc. What a beauty!

1954 Porsche 550 RS Spyder

The 550 was built for racing; just 90 cars were built 1953-56. I believe it was the first mid-engine Porsche model, as the 1.5 flat four engine was moved forward for better balance. The curb weight is just a bit over 1,300 pounds. If you want one, bring money -- lots and lots of money!

Here's a car that competed in the first Indy 500 back in 1911 -- a 1911 Inter-State Bulldog 50 with 50 hp 6.4-liter inline four engine. No front brakes in those days. Inter-State did not last long, only building cars from 1909 to 1913. I'd love to know the size of those wheel and tires!

Sensitive sources and methods have revealed that the tires are 33 x 4.

What's that on the bottom of his shoe!?!

Having limited braking ability may not have been that much of a problem in that era. The cars went a lot slower and may not have had to slow very much for the sweeping corners at Indy. Plus there was an equality among braking capabilities--no other car had better brakes. I did some track bicycle racing a few decades back and track bikes have no freewheel and no brakes. There were very few crashes, and one big reason why was that nobody could stop in a hurry.

Here's another car that raced in the first Indy 500 -- The 1909 ALCO (American Locomotive Company) Black Beast. It boasted a 681 cubic inch (11.5 liter) inline 6 engine, four speeds, and chain drive.

The car won the famous 1909 and 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Races on Long Island, and was favored to win the 1911 inaugural Indy 500 but took a DNF for a mechanical failure.

https://www.vanderbiltcupraces.com/a...il/black_beast

I was part of the racing event crew for two of the Vanderbilt Cup Centennial events on Long Island about 15 years ago, and got to see the Black Beast (aka: "BĂȘte Noire") run in both. I was standing just to the right of the photographer in the staging lane when this picture of legendary 1970's NASCAR and IndyCar driver Janet Guthrie climbing into the mechanician's seat was taken:

The Black Beast was one of four surviving cars from the first Indy 500 to show up for the centennial event, and "won" the "race" because the 1911 Indy-winning Marmon Wasp had problems getting its engine started and was unable to lead the parade laps as planned.....

Very interesting. Open to discussion if this is more environmentally friendly than a new EV? Not looking to argue, just a thought.
