I'll keep my mouth shut, but only because I'm not ready to buy anything right now. I do appreciate you doing this though...

Got straps, ordering two plasma screens moving boxes that are close to the needed specification, a box for each door, then both will be stacked upright next to each other and heavily wrapped and padded and shipped. I finally figured a way to send both safely, at least in my mind

You sure are having your fun with these doors.
You're going to miss them when they're gone

okay guys so here is my latest update:
Ive sort of been taking this whole thing at a steady pace. Im attaching pics of the latest progress. I currently have the doors secure in boxes packed individually. My next step is to secure a larger plastic pallet which I will do from ebay. (pic attached) And then get a Gaylord Box (yes thats the actual name dont ask) and put the doors together in this huge box and stuff the hell out of it with pillows EVERYWHERE. Seal. 80 gauge plastic wrap it, then ratchet it down to the pallet and wait for a truck. Im thinking about waiting for the icy months to pass. Im open to suggestions and Ideas mainly from the current list of investors. New comers are welcome. so far im pleased with everyones patience |

I have been watching this, and there is no doubt this doors will make it in one piece . What I wonder though is why not rent a uhaul and meet half way vs. all the hell your going thru wrapping these things ?

i realize i have zero at stake in this thread, but...
these doors are shipped to BMW in simple cardboard boxes. they are held in place by a cardboard skeleton, and have little-to-no other packing. when i've needed to ship things like this in the past, i've just gone to my local dealer and talked to the parts dept there. they get large boxes in nearly every day and gladdly give them to me for free. i've even gotten pallets from them before for free. and they've let me ship using their freight account; i just pay them instead of UPS or whoever. again... i'm not the one holding the doors and so maybe i've missed some specifics, so i'm sorry if i'm not understanding the shipping scenario. -eric

first let me say that every member has a right to send or post a reply here because I believe anything that is said is only going to serve the greater good of the group. so feel free.
I don't trust UPS for anything. I'm currently waiting for a shift kit from auto solutions for my E36 M3 and they keep missing the package or address can be verified or some other b******* like that. I have my mind set on making sure these doors make it to the destination without a single ding. I will be using a collapsible container because I believe it will be the safest way to ship it. and no matter who the carrier is as long as they don't throw it out of an airplane mid flight it shouldn't have any problems. now that being said I'm probably going to have to front the entire cost of the collapsible container which would be around 300 dollars plus shipping. and since I am now officially have 2 projects to keep up with I am honestly behind. but this is still moving foward |

They're only gonna be used for their shapes, I don't think anyone cares if there's a fresh little scratch in the paint.
I'm honestly pretty close to pulling out of this, because you've stretched this out for SIX MONTHS. Remind me what your Ebay seller ID is, so I never have to rely on you to ship anything to me
