Hi folks
I bought a 2003 BMW Z4 3.0i manual, my first BMW at 78 years old. I bought it as a fixer upper over the winter. I’ve already changed the lower intake tube and DISA valve and now runs like a top. I also have a 2015 Mustang GT manual, both fun to drive.
I hope to learn a lot on this site. The steering seems quite heavy, not sure if this is normal or a problem. Last edited by blufc3s; 10-22-2022 at 05:55 PM.. |

New owner in WI
Hey all, just picked up a 05 2.5L in the Madison area. Will be an adventure I'm sure once I can get it out in nice weather. I have a few upgrades in mind already.

Picked up my 2003 3.0i manual a few weeks back. Only driven a bit with the weather getting colder around here. It's been a blast so far, can't wait for the spring to really enjoy it!

Congrats on your purchase and welcome! Very recently being in the same new buyer situation I recommend assuming the previous owner(s) ignored maintenance requirements. Disassemble everything and inspect. I am in a good place now after replacing plugs, ignition coils, injectors, all wheel bearings, all wheel hubs, all rotors, all calipers, brake lines, drive axles, pads, shocks, suspension coils, struts, sway bar links.

New Z4MC guy here...
Hey everyone,
New E86 guy here. I'm new to BMWs in general (been around plenty, never owned one) and I just drove home my very first... a 2006 Z4 M Coupe, Interlagos Blue w/ Black Nappa / Carbon. I wasn't able to get too acclimated to it on my 7 hour drive home to Baltimore from Ohio but I will surely start to. I cant leave well-enough alone so I will be modifying it. It already has a little carbon rear bootlid spoiler (dunno the brand?), a Supersprint exhaust and an aFe Intake... possibly a short shifter (but I dont have anything to compare to). I will most likely do some coilovers (KW most likely), wheels/tires, I want Aero skirts, some front chin spoiler and MAYBE a 4.10 diff... besides those things, it's a pretty great car. I love it already. I'm still mostly a noob to these cars so bear with me if I ask an "stupid" questions. I promise I know how to use the search function, lol. Cheers, - Rich |

Oh, I guess I should check in and say hello.
I'm an e82 fellow who's had a wandering eye for the E86 since they came out. I was broke as hell then and could only dream of owning one. Fast-forward to my early 40s and a few passing conversations with RichPugh in a Porsche bro group chat, and I've spent the last week and a half drooling over the Z4M again. Tomorrow I'm flying up to PA to have a look at wdb's lovely specimen, and maybe convince him to unload it. As I understand it, he's got too many cars in the stable and one of them is a 996. With any luck, maybe Rich and I will roll up to the next Porsche rallye in matching style. |

Quick introduction!
Hi fellow Z-owners,
As I've just joined, a quick intro seems in order. Bart, 31, born and raised in the Netherlands and the proud owner of one of the 95 Tiefgruen Metallic Z4 coupes! I've had the car since September 2021 and I've been working on it ever since. My goal is to build it up to an OEM+ spec, using original parts or components of at least equal quality and that suit the spirit and design of the Z. This is how I bought the Zed. I yearned after a green one for a long time, but with so few of them built I didn't hold out much hope. In fact, I bought a white coupe first, but then 6 weeks later I stumbled across this car. The rest is, as they say, history. The interior was a mix of wood and faded beige. Fine for a 7-series, a bit underwhelming on the Z. So I spent the first few months collecting bits, and finally building up the interior to my liking. In fact, just a few weeks ago I refurbished a set of M-sport seats and completed phase 2 of the interior make-over. Proper pics of those results have yet to be taken in fact! As for the exterior: I've fitted original aero skirts, tinted the rear windows to OEM spec, fitted the aero wing and diffuser, and an M-bumper on the front. Ditched the 17 inch wheels for some bronze CSL's, complementing the green nicely. Some plans still, but those are for later! So this is how it sits now! Note the gloss black grill and ducts as an extra touch to lift the front. Really happy with how it's turned out so far, and I've only just gotten started on it.
