If the current 5 and 7 series are extended does that mean the NK Versions for 2029 and 2030 will also get pushed back or are they supposed to coexist?

Also is this a sign that high end BMWs move less aggressive towards pure EVs similar to Porsche lately or was something like this planned from the beginning?

I've made a very basic and confusing analysis of electric motors and batteries coming in the near future EVs. I'm pretty sure there will be questions. Please ask, I'll try to unpack it to the best of my abilities.

Thanks for the update!

On the batteries, does this mean NA0/NA1/NA5/NA7 50 xdrive and M60 and X3 M and X4 M a use a 109 kWh battery? Or am I misunderstanding something? I know BMW had previously mentioned different cell heights for sedan and SUV models.

And is the M3 battery then smaller to save weight or space or what would make it different that wouldn’t also apply to the X3 M? Chemistry?

On the motors, does the class refer to the number of motors or specs/output? You mention the 40/50 xdrives are similar and Ms and ix5 M70 are similar but where does that leave something like a NA0 or NA5 M60?

Does it also mean no RWD 50 models?

Hope that’s not too many questions.

Same battery ID.

Unknown. I can see battery specs only 4-6 months before sales start.

Output for sure. It remains to be seen how many motors will be on the M cars.

Those are in the 40/50 family.

Another question is, will there be a next generation M4 or will they eliminate the M4 and just have an M2 coupe? I prefer coupes as it looks like BMW is eliminating coupes (M8, etc.).

I was also wondering about this. Mercedes will bring back the V8 next year for many AMG cars including their CLE coupe while BMW seems to end of life all their coupes with combustion engines in the next years but at least the SUVs are safe

Electric Cars sold 21% in Germany last month while diesel was going down to nearly 12% market share. Diesels will probably be mostly extinct next decade.

The G70 with a diesel engine and mild hybrid technology has a range of up to 1300-1400 km on a single tank, while the fully electric G70 has a range of up to 400-500 km. That's a very big difference.

There better be an m4… Audi sales are struggling, and I think it’s partly for lack of coupe options. Seems like a really stupid market move - coupes and convertibles are always in demand

No 520 or 540d available here. We can't even get the 320d anymore. Only models available with diesels are X models.

To the point above on the EU figures, diesel sales have dropped. However, the figures are slightly misquoted as HEV registrations include MHEV diesels & petrols. More and more diesels are being sold with mild hybrid systems & these are classed as HEV vehicles in the EU. The diesel bashing has gone way too far and they're still popular across the EU.

Does that mean, that the statement regarding different battery heights (95mm NA0 and 120mm NA5) is not valid anymore or will NA0 also end up at a total net of 108kWh despite the smaller cells?

Is it clear already, that "40" will have smaller batteries than "50"?
Which would mean 108kWh only with a more expensive xDrive and thus a lack of an affordable e/sDrive 40 with 108kWh?

NA0 RWD 108kWh could be a range monster, why would BMW not love to offer such a competitive advantage?

Thank you!

There will be no ICE M4. I believe the NK EV M4 is not yet off the table, but it has not been seen on any schedule so far.

That would be so ridiculous from them. What will future DTM and other racing cars from BMW then be based off, the M3 sedan, or are they quiting all of these as well?

The current M4 GT3 is fairly fresh, so it will be a while until that needs replacement. Maybe they will add an M4 or M2 to the lineup in a few years, but I doubt it.
If the M3 is the only thing available, the GT cars may be based on this.

I believe the delays are merely because they have extended the EOP of the G83 for two years after the G80 EOP. Perhaps that's wishful thinking

I will never believe they will discontinue M4 with ICE engine, not Until I see it for myself through a few years. I mean, that is one of their feature cars, car that widely represents BMW as a carmaker. I mean everything is possible, after Yamaha shut down R1 and R6 for the road(!!!!!!???), whats next, Lambo going all electric SUVs

That's why they've extended the G2x lifetime. But once those are gone, that's it.
