Oh Ferrari what are you putting doing, you yet again have a great car but with either mistakes, reliability issues or stupid stupid strategy’s you are going to be nowhere.
This is Max’s season to win, it would have to be a complete failure in the second half for him not to walk it now. Perez seems to have gone off the boil a little but mistakes and issues everywhere else Redbull are likely to get the constructors as well. They have the best balanced car and get through the hiccups well. A nice blip for Merc and a really strong race, they never really looked like they had the overall place to win but to even challenge is good. Russell yet again showed his class with some great Defense and overtakes and with the softs didn’t get mugged off the line. Hamilton fought through to get 2nd showing he hasn’t lost the speed and still wants to win. Can’t help but think they are going to ditch the zero pod concept and follow the crowd in the second half to see how it works for them before next season. Norris did well but didn’t have the pace in the race to challenge but managed to stay ahead of the alpines. Hope McLaren get back up the front. Overall the racing this year is great and the changes to the rules have done the job it’s great to watch them all following closely. I hope they don’t all follow Aston and they close that rear wing loophole. Enjoy the break all see you in a few weeks and the news of Porsche and Audi coming into F1 soon. |

They had to use one other compound. Max started on softs so he could race the rest of the race on mediums. But SAI and LEC started on mediums
Obviously 1x soft and 2x mediums (and do long runs on those) was the correct combination (in any order). That hards were not the right choice was already clear early in the race (when kmag chose them) and also 33% in the race when Alo and Oco chose them. Not enough temperature in them. When LEC got the hards, I think pretty much all the TV commentators across the different channels named it a bald or strange move... Luckily SAI was clear enough that he wanted softs, but in reality the team should already know that, just as they should know how long the drivers should stay out on their tires.

Amazing drive from Max. Starts 9th on a track which is basically a parking lot, spins once, and still wins. Wow.
The new cars really do allow for better passing, we saw quite a bit of action at this track for once! Finally, wtf Ferrari. It’s just unbelievable their errors. |
