Watkins Glen July 11-12 (SCDA)
So I finally got the car I've been lusting after - an '06 Z4MC. I had been tracking a lightly modified '05 Cooper S until now, and I'll be heading to Watkins Glen in three weeks for a two-day event with SCDA with the new car.
Moving from a FWD car with 187HP at the front wheel to a RWD monster with 330 at the crank (anyone know the wheel HP?) is a little daunting, but I'm really looking forward to it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. |

wheel HP is between 260 and 280. depending on the situation.
I strongly recommend pulling the pins on the front strut towers, and adjusting in as much negative camber up front as you can. Probably -1.5 or -2 on stock suspension other than that, its the basic brake fluid, and pad upgrade Otherwise, the stock car will understeer and fade the brakes a bit thats all based on what I've read here.

Thanks! I'll get that adjusted before I go.
The car has a set of OEM pads up front with plenty of meat left on them; the rears look OK. I figure two days at WGI will get them down pretty good so I can switch over to something a little less dusty (Carbotech Bobcats) when I get home. Thanks to this board, I now know to check the brake ducts up front and pull the plastic piece for better flow. I don't do more than four or five track days a year, so I don't think I'll be doing a full duct kit. |
