I was talking to Karl one of the owners of Active yesterday while they were washing my car after the header install and he asked me how i liked the software. The first thing that I said was that it was amazing how the car now pulled in the top end. Before it would just fall flat on its face at around 7000 rpm, now it just keeps going. So Karl goes, wait till you try the headers and started cracking up. He was not kidding. Keep in mind I am now running their Tune customized for intake and headers. You can definitely feel the punch in the gut when you hit the gas. So much so that last night my girlfriend asked me to punch it and she goes "oh no there is no need for that" as soon as I did. That cracked me up hahaha.

I think I'm going w/ the header tune b/c I will eventually install the headers. Are you running just a panel filter for the intake?

The tune itself makes a decent difference from stock (as my dyno and butt and personal experience has shown). However, I know for a fact that headers will be yet another step up the ladder
If CA emissions wasn't a pain in the ass, I would've had headers installed already, and have JSW give me AA's retune for headers We'll see. I just might cave in, sometime in the future.. Performance-wise, I've only got a B&M drop-in filter, along with SS Race muffler cans. This is enough power from the motor for me personally. But am looking into more aggressive gearing; perhaps the 4.10 , or at least the 3.91 =] |

I'm under the impression that the header tune only changes the 02 sensor bypass and not the map. That way if I don't do the headers I won't have any emissions issues

By far the header is where I felt the most power. Combined with the tune its sick. I have been getting compliments all weekend long of how the car sounds. As fasr as intake im running panel filter with RPI scoop.

I'm not 100% positive on that. But I figured the car would run better with all sensors in place, especially if I haven't swapped out the headers yet. I'll probably do headers down the road. We'll see.

Just got the ECU re-tuned for headers. I'm going to be installing headers either this weekend or the next. Then I'll go back to my dyno and find out about the gains. Hopefully I'll be able to outpull my friend's Supra thereafter
(before he starts really modifying it ) |

Their retail is something like $200 additional. I got hooked up since I went through JSW and I was the first one. Regardless, I was pretty angry that I still had to put out some cash on top. By principle alone, it should've been completely free of charge. But they're helping me cover for yet another dyno, so oh well
I will post the dyno in here after I install the headers, let it run for a short while, reset ECU, blah blah blah all the good stuff, and of course after running the dyno lol... I will also update the first post in this thread accordingly |

1) Put the key into your ignition and turn to position 2 (just before cranking the car; which is position 3) for about 10 seconds
2) Turn the key back to position 0 (everything off) for about 10 seconds 3) Turn key all the way to position 3 and start the car Your throttle adaptation should be reset by now. If you're not sure you did it correctly, just take your key out of the ignition for a short while and start all over from #1 It's best to do this while the car is warm. That way you can get on the throttle right after resetting throttle and you'll feel more of a difference ^_^ |

haha, me too. Unfortunately I won't be able to do the header install this weekend, because Tischer BMW had some of their parts back-ordered. Parts that I needed for the header install, such as gaskets and doughnuts, etc.
They won't be coming in until next Wednesday, so the plan is to install headers sometime next week hopefully. I also just got an offer for an extremely cheap Dynojet dyno. I will try this, along with a few pulls from the Dynapack that I've been going to (for consistency sake). |

There's a kit from Tischer BMW in Maryland as well, here:
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462 Tischer's kit comes with the studs, for $112 plus shipping. I'm not sure if it's extra for the E36 (longer) style studs, but I would assume so. My friend had some leftover parts unused from the various times we've done headers, so I only got the replacement gaskets and dougnuts. I took the opportunity to order the Vanos filter too, seen here: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462 I got the one without the sealing plate, because the DIY I read up didn't mention needing it. I got this kit because it was cheap preventative maintenance, and I figured since I was ordering stuff from Tischer, why not save a bit on shipping. |

BTW, I just got dragged into a skiing/snowboarding trip next weekend
So, if I don't get a chance to swap out my headers nor get dyno runs in, then it'll have to wait till January after the holidays. Bear with me guys! |

I'm going to Laguna Seca again Dec. 31st Best-case scenario would be to squeeze a few hours out of my holiday for header swap, but I'm almost 100% certain I won't be able to get any "after" dynos done until early January |
