Simple question - TIS, XP only? Bentley?
I bought the CD/DVD sevice manual thing and it's my understanding thus far that it will only run on XP.
If so, I have to try to partition a hard disk on one of my PCs so I can have XP installed and 7....PITA, hate having to fiddle with this stuff.... Also, are there no regular shop manuals yet for Z4? Seem kind of unbelievable to me that by now there hasn't been one published.

Yes, it's a windoze 2000/xp thing, I had to install it at my office. Not a very well-written piece of software, but it is packed with information.

I never got any instructions with how to use this TIS disk. I find it difficult to find the instructions I'm looking for when doing a repair. I know how to put my vehicle ID number in and everything but is there a link somewhere that shows the easiest way to get to the repair data you are looking for?
Also, does this software interpret codes read on a Peake or other code reader? The Peake booklet tells you what components may be affected my the malfunction but they really don't give you information as to what can CAUSE these components to be affected? Thanks for any input here

You don't have to put in your VIN. Just browse to your model/year using the menus on the left (works like Realoem). Once you have selected your car, click on "documents" or "symptoms" on the lower right corner. I personally find docs easier to navigate and the bulk of the info is also in docs.

Yes, but not certified to work on 7, it's old software I think.

If you could confirm you have 32 or 64 bit, that might help.

TIS software
I have the TIS DVD and it would not operate on Windows 7. I have been able to get it working by setting it up through a Virtual Windows XP (little slower but works ok) . hope this helps .

Agree, I'm in IT too, as a Unix sysadmin however, but we don't run 7 on the desktop because of all the incompatibilities and issues from older software. Sounds like it could be a 32/64 bit issue.
