Crazy German does what we dream of... V10 engine transplant!
Yes...you guessed it. He throws in his Z4M roadster a V10 560HP (BMW M5?)engine and this is what happens...

I just wish there were better videos of this car! I want a V10 so bad! I know a member on this forum Diokeif had a V10 carbon fiber widebody M coupe. I wish he could chime in with whats involved with doing the swap

I won't even ask how much coin one has to drop to put in a V10 560HP engine. I would imagine you would need to upgrade the rear axle, shocks, struts etc etc as well.

I wonder why they didn't go ahead and put the Dinan V-10 in there...

The V10 weighs 240kg vs the s54 which weighs 217kg. So engine weight is not a problem. I think the car should be able to accept the motor as is. The ESS blown cars are putting down over 500hp and way more torque then the V10 throws down. I am taking a wild guess here but since we run the M5/M6 ecu programming could we just reflash the ecu with the v10 software?

(uh, E85, not E86)
They don't use the same DME's on the S85 as the S54. The circuits are entirely different. You couldnt just reflash it. Even if they could, it wouldn't run the same. Like running windows 7 on an old X86 computer. The power delivery of the S85 would be much more of a consistent rush than the S54 would be... force induction or not. Similar numbers don't mean equal power delivery/driveability. The drivetrain, DME, and KOMBI are the main pieces necessary for it to run right. The mechanical bits, are well..... work arounds! These are the worst videos they could have possibly made for such an awesome machine. Too bad! |

I saw that V10 Z4 at a bug BMW club car show in Wuerzburg last Spring. IF I remember right the car had "AA" plates so I thought it was a Schnitzer coversion. But not sure who did it. All I can tell you was it was one clean looking conversion! The guy ended winning a trophy too. You can see my car show photos here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...zburg+car+show Dackel |

Terrible clips, not one focuses in on the V10 engine under the hood, or even from underneath. I wanted to see how well the engine fit. Please shoot some more clips.
This is my kind of monster. Do you think he will sell me the 6 cyl M engine for my 135i? I once saw a 2002 in my area with an E30 M3 engine in a 2002. Sweet. Edit: Thanks for the photos of the engine.

If you live in Sweden you just wouldn't want that plate on your car... Let me explain it like this:
If your name is Nils in Sweden your nickname would be "Nisse". If Nisse happens to be a whore his nickname (in a bad way) would be "hor-Nisse" which is just as good spelt without the "-". But I think that the word is actually german for "hornet" which sounds alot better than the swedish translation.... Last edited by Fedorov; 10-25-2010 at 06:14 AM.. |
