Damn, Those AA hearders are beautiful. I know what you mean when you say it is tough doing the install on your own. I have done all but one of the modifications to the M on my own. The good thing is that we are learning a lot more about the car than we would if we were paying for installation. We are also saving money and don’t have to worry about some hack not using the right torque specs when putting things back together. I removed the mid pipe for two reasons: 1. I wanted to have plenty of room to work, and did not want to be pushing and prying on the mid pipe while the car was on jack stands. 2. I knew I was going to have to modify the mid pipe, so I wanted to take it in to get a quote for the work. I am with you on the O2’s. I had to use my 24” breaker bar to remove mine. The reason I chose OEM headers and the secondary O2 relocation was because this is the way the cars come factory Euro spec. The secondary O2’s are behind the cats in the mid pipe. I was informed that for tuning and emission purposes, it is better to have the secondary O2’s after the cats because of the way our computers react to the sensor readings. This may have been a load of bull, but I figured I would do the extra work and go with OEM design because it is already proven to work.

Your M is making me wish I had IR. You should start the journal, it is a lot of fun. I think the quality of mine would have been much better if I had done it as I was adding the mods. Better write-ups and better photos when it is fresh.

Yeah; either you're flying out here, or I'm making a road trip out there when it's time to do the headers/mids. That's over my head

so, i for one am NOT disappointed in 18! good set of tool is hard to acquire. my dad's was stolen out of his truck when i was little and it took the rest of my adolescent days to get anywhere close to what he used to have. I think all I have right now is a nice 128 pc in the little plastic box it came in! haha
i like the little rack area you built for your boards and bikes, too!

That is a beautiful box and tools are very important to have. I have actually been looking on craigslist lately for a used toolbox. Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for it? I'm trying to keep it under a certain limit but I keep catching myself looking at the 8k ones with a hutch.
Nice wakeboard btw, I used to ride but I hurt my shoulder in Feb snowboarding. AC Separation Grade 3, and it is still weak |

I noticed the Snap-on toolbox right away in the Eisenmann FS thread.
I immediately thought "now there's someone doing things the right way" I did the same thing myself this year (but not Snap-on), it makes a huge difference having everything organized and at hand.

I used a 02 socket removal tool(harbor frt) and a 1/2 breaker bar to remove my sensors when I put in my AA's. All but one was removed while the headers were on the car. The fourth had enough slack to be removed with the headers loosened and slightly broken free from the head so I did not have to disconnect wires.

Well, I've been looking at tool boxes all day now and I've decided I love the Classic 78. I'm sold. Looks big enough for me now and Can always be expanded with a top section or side lockers. I might PM you crfine with some toolbox questions. There goes my budget!

Thanks, It took a long time to put together, but I am very happy with the garage set-up. People who steal tools are scum. Stealing tools out of the back of a truck is like stealing someone’s Livelihood, because the tools are most likely being used to generate income. Sorry for the quick rant, I have just seen too many tools walk away.

I was searching for about three months for a double bank. I came across this one with-in 15 min. of the guy listing it. He was asking $1300, so I figured it was hammered (most of the newer boxes like this were going for $2k plus on Craig’s list.) So I dropped what I was doing and went to check it out. When I got there, he had a brand new yellow triple bank. I dug a little and found out he got this for 55% off from his Snap-On guy. With that info, I offered $950 and was shocked when he accepted my offer with out countering. Damn, sorry to hear about your shoulder. I used to ride 3 days a week from 1999-2002. I wrecked pretty hard (12 stitches in my chin and two broken teeth) so I slowed down a bit after that. I hadn't ridden at all since 2004. I just picked it back up again. My uncle bought a 2001 air nautique, and now I am teaching a bunch of family members how to ride. Just not going huge anymore.

Thanks, "doing things the right way," is key. It has made all the difference in the world having the tools and work space organized.

Shoot on down here to Missouri. We can do the install over a weekend. Hell if we start early we could get it done in 8-10 hours maybe quicker now that ive done one. '

That is a great box! Feel free to fire any questions you have my way. If I don't have an answer, I will contact my buddy who had was a Snap-On dealer up until last year.
