Do Camber plates Clank/rattle in your Z4?
All you folks with camber plates and/or coilovers -
do you get a rattle/clank when you cross average bumps on the street? This is apparently possible with "race" camber plates that do not have rubber isolation mounts. Can anyone confirm that rubber isolators is the remedy? I have had my Ground Control coilovers w/camber plates installed for a week and the rattle over bumps is driving me crazy. It appeared the day after the plates/COs went in. My shop has twice checked every other bolt and nut in the front-end suspension on the car, and nothing is loose. I personally watched the second time and everything appears to be properly torqued. It's a REALLY annoying rattle that takes most of the joy out of driving the car. it sounds broken and cheap at the same time. anyone with similar experiences? or useful remedies? |

When driving on the street I simply turn up the stereo volume and the rattle goes away like magic

Very odd... I've got GC Coilovers with Camber/caster plates on. Mine do not make any noise at all. Recently there was a thread over at Bimmerfest forums that addressed a different issue with the Camber plates: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=433232
Thing is that my setup didn't rattle with either the old or new plates on. Unless the noise is coming from elsewhere, I cant see why they would cause so much noise. Have you contacted GC about the issue? |

I have TCK camber plates originally purchased in 2003.
They were quiet on initial install and began making noise eventually. Disassembly determined a washer in the assembly was mushroomed creating clearance resulting in noise. A larger washer designed by TCK as an update was installed and has worked well. While some race parts will result in greater noise-vibration-harshness (NVH), a clunk or clank indicates play, not good. |
