Some fun at the track (video)
My friend and I just did a fun compilation of us at a track. We usually reserve all of our crazy stuff there and we pretty much do some erm, overdriving techniques there.
I finally got the hang of handling my coupe after 2 days of playing with the car, typically after my tires got shot on the 4-5th track day (Michelin pilot sports). Nothing too fantastic, just practicing how to catch the car at hairy moments. Featuring a S2000 and my car. Looks fun.
But I can't help but think that it's such a waste of what looks like an amazing track! You can sooner do these kinds of maneuvers on a closed parking lot with cones. It'd have the exact same educational effect! Go back and drive that track for real! Please? (Because I'm jealous you seemed to have it all to yourself!)

Awww...Don't be a killjoy. The most fun I've had in an MZ4 Coupe was when BMW NA was doing the ///M Driving School at California Speedway in October a few years ago, and I got a complimentary pass to it from a sponsor, and we were doing the "rat race," basically a wet skid-pad where you start from two opposite ends of the circular SOAKED skid-pad and try and catch each other. Managed to nearly complete 1/3 of a lap going sideways.
Unfortunately that wasn't the fastest way around and I almost "lost" that round until I got some sense decided to get serious. Of course, that was more fun because I was doing it in someone else's MZ4 Coupe. It got old pretty quick though, and after about 15 rounds in a row I REALLY had to take a p*ss and step out of the car. I still prefer going around the track the FAST way rather than the slow way, but once in a while it DOES get the heart pumping and the adrenaline going...Especially if it's in a CONTROLLED environment. |

I have actually thought it would be a good idea to learn how to handle your car confidently in an over-the-limit situation. Most of us at the track spend our time trying to avoid over rotation or over spinning the rear wheels...it is such a rarity that when it happens its not something you are 100% confident in dealing with...at least not me. The only way I can think to gain this skill is to practice it on purpose. Just my 2cents.
