Also, having the seat belt receptacle outside the seat like that is very dangerous. It should be routed through the belt slot in the seat, like so:

Otherwise, the belt will not hold you in the seat properly and you'll very likely submarine into the footwell in a head-on collision. At the very least, the lap belts will ride up on you, crushing your organs and ribs, when otherwise you probably wouldn't be injured at all. I see this way too much on street cars with race buckets. You may need to get someone to fabricate a new mount for the receptacle to get it through that slot.

Just looking out for you (and all others out there who do the same).

I had to do the same with my Cobra Suzuka's ( put it on the outside ), that said however, the belt sits snugly on my lap with no gap at all ( that's the real issue people cite with it on the outside and causing the belt to not sit on your lap ). I think it's truly a case by case deal... there's absolutely no way I could sit in the seat with the buckle inside the hole.
