Muffler bearing fluid goes there. Autozone has some but it's behind the counter so you have to ask for it. Anything DOT approved works.

Muffler bearing fluid is pretty clear, it's hard to see. That's why there should be a little thing floating in there to indicate the level. If the little stick like thing is floating about flush with the top of where the cap screws on your good, if it's not then you need to refill it immediately.
Regular distilled water will work temporarily like from CVS (NOT TAP WATER), but if it was low you need to go to autozone some time soon and get the fluid. Can you take a pic with the cap off?

Again taking the car to Autozone and they can scan the code for you through the OBDII port and tell you what it is for.

Holy shit, that is bone dry man, that might actually be the cause of your SES light, I would fill it up with distilled (again NOT tap water or any type of mineral water) if you have any on hand in your house before even going to get any fluid.
BMW actually recommends only using their fluid but distilled or generic fluid from autozone works to correct just a little low level. But since you have to add so much I might go ahead and use the BMW fluid.

See above post, BMW recommends their fluid. You might just go to the dealer and get a jug of it, mix it 50/50 with distilled.

It needs to be a 50/50 mix.

I figured someone would tell you by now.... That's for your coolant, and you're low, empty really, which is really bad. The muffler bearing thing was a joke, but everything else I told you was true, just replace "muffler bearing fluid" with "coolant".

So long as you never overheated it's OK, but it's not a condition you ever want to drive around with.
