I think this supports my theory that not all windshields are glued down in the same exact location.
I popped my seal in with one finger all the way round. I suspect your windshield is about 0.1" higher up than mine.

My coupe fought me all the way across the top, but particularly in the middle. It took me over an hour of fiddling to get it to lay flat against the roof.

Did my daughter's '08 coupe a year or so ago and it was indeed tougher than it looked. It started out wrong because BMW changed parts for 02-2008 onward built and her production was 03-2008. Dealer gave me the original (wrong) part covering up to 01-2008 after verifying the VIN. I ended up finding out about the change from realoem.com. It was simply a tight fit on the coupe and I had to take 2 since it came up 1/8 - 1/4 inch short on the other corner when the top was fitted.
Then I did the cowl, and this was the second cowl replacement (1st was done under warranty when vehicle was 3 years old), everything was pretty straight forward since I had puller on hand, but those plastic pins are PITA to remove and refit. I didn't have the "refresh" kit so I had to reuse the originals, most went back in fine except for 2. I ended up buying the replacement pins but have yet to go back in, may be next time as there will be a next time. I too wanted to replace the cable clamps but no part number was available. Next project is to replace the quarter windows as the rubber molding is literally melted & cracked away while the glass is fine. In BMW's infinite wisdom, they designed the glass & molding as a single unit and it has to be removed from the inside. Haven't torn down the interior to see how the quarter window is secured, with my luck, must be rivets. The parts diagram also indicates use of velcro strips, while I have bought those as well, am not entirely sure of the purpose nor placement. |

Sorry it's giving you a hard time though, I feel your pain.
I've never liked using Windex for things like this. I keep a spray bottle of water/baby shampoo around for applying stickers, vinyl, seals, etc. Small story time: My neighbor did tint for a living, (houses and cars) and one day he wandered over and asked me if I had any Johnsons baby shampoo (I did because I had a newborn) and he told me it's the only thing he uses. Apparently it has less of whatever is bad for rubber and glue in it and I've also found it to be slippery as all bejesus and it cleans up easy. |

Rockauto?
Rockauto has a windshield surround for under 20 bucks by a company called Precision. Anyone use this product? Any thoughts on it as far as quality and ease of install?

Buy from FCP EURO, if it comes in screwed up they send a new one at NC. Plus the next one is free if it is needed for any reason.
