M coupe track wheels.
So I've been looking for either 17s or 18s that are light weight and use about the same offsets as stock for track wheels (don't like spacers) I've been browsing tire rack and cant really find anything. Probably cuz I'm shooting for less than 300 a wheel.
There's these but I don't want to use 10 wides in the back and the offset is a little off. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand Then there's these but again back offset is off. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand don't care what they look like, don't even care if the front and back are the same (same diameter though) Just thought I would throw this out there see if anyone had gone through the trouble already.

I'm in the same boat as you, although i have really only been looking at 18's. I've almost bought the TRmotorsport MT1 a couple of times now but keep hoping something better will come along. For example some Enkei RP-F1 in 18x8.5/ 18x9.5 would be perfect if they would make it for our car. Anyone out there have any suggestions we might not be aware of?

E46 M3 wheels
I use a set of E46 M3 take-offs as my track wheels for driving schools. They are Style 67 8X18ET47 front and 9X18ET26 rear. I run R888s 235/40-18 front and 265/35-18 rear with no clearance issues.
I found these wheels from a local BMW Club member for $100 each.

Do 245s not fit on the front? I haven't seen anyone say they are running them.

I just installed Dunlop Direzza's in 245 up front and 275 out back on the stock 8 inch and 9 inch wheels, so a 245 should also fit on the 8 inch E46 M rim.

i've got TRMotorsport on my car...
not too expensive and they are pretty damn light. i believe that if you select an M3 for the car setup on the first screen you can find a staggered setup. |

Here's what you want: Wheels: 18x8.5 +40 front / 18x9.5 +22 rear Velocity CSL reps. I got mine from www.**********s.com Tires: 245/40/18 front / 275/35/18 rear Nitto NT-01s or Toyo RA-1s. www.discounttiredirect.com is the best place for the Nittos, www.aimtire.com is the place for the Toyos. I'm running NT-01s right now (daily driving and track) and love them, but the RA-1s last a little longer and aren't as loud on the road. Sounds like you're just looking for track tires though, so that's a moot point. No spacers needed, no rubbing. Sorry for the crappy iphone pics...

Really, I swear they weren't there before lol. apexstrafer, for some reason I don't trust the CSL reps on track, or maybe it's because I don't want to be one of the trillion people with those rims. I guess I don't care if they look horrible, but if they are what everyone and their mother puts on their BMW I shy away from them lol. And you run NT-01s on the street? Whats the tread wear like doing that? I always thought Rcomps wore really fast?

I hear ya on the ubiquity of CSLs, but they're a great track wheel. Perfect size and offset, reasonably light. I've beaten mine pretty hard on a couple of curbs at the track and only bent one so far. And they're so inexpensive that they're practically disposable anyway ($175 for a rear wheel!). Velocity just released a V710 rep also in the same sizes (I think, ask **********s). Sweet looking wheel, check em out.
R-comps actually last longer on the street than many people think, but you're not going to get 40K miles out of them. To me, the wear tradeoff is worth it for the incomparable grip and roadfeel. They REALLY wake up the car's chassis, especially with the right alignment. I do high speed fun runs pretty regularly on the weekends (out in the middle of nowhere) so I more than get my money out of them, even when not at the track.

I don't get 40k miles on ANY tire, I don't think I've ever gone even 10k on a set of tires (at least not the axle that wears fastest).

E92 335 track wheels?
Quote:
A 17 inch wheel won't clear the front calipers on the CSL brake equipped Z4 MC. If you're looking for 335 track wheels why not post your question on a E92 forum?

And I should, edit to reflect having an M coupe as well now that I post in the Z sections. I was thinking something along the lines of a fake 335 mod list in my sig thats actually all the stock stuff that comes on the M coupe and being like "oh wait all that stuff came stock"

I sold the 17x8/9.5 SSRs because the front was too narrow and the offset on the back was too low. They are off my Z3M coupe. I decided to go SSR 17x9 on all 4 corners.
Beware the 17s will lower the front to the point that rubbing driveways, bumps, etc is much easier. 17 inch SSR wheels clear the Z4M Mcoupe brakes just fine. The Kosei K1 wheels on tire rack also clear the brakes. |

I'm still of the opinion that if you're going to track the car you may also consider upgrading your brakes as well. That being said, I'd want wheels that are bigger and lighter than stock. Any forged 19 inch wheel will be lighter than the stock wheels, and give you the flexibility to upgrade your brakes later when you decide that the fade is too much for more than a few laps.

All the Z4M needs is better brakes pads and fluid. The car has more than enough brakes even for race tires.
Putting huge Big brake kits on a Z4M is a waste of money. 19s with huge BBKs are cool but you will be slower than a stock Z4M with proper tires and brake pads. |
