Reminds me of a time back in the mid 90s at my first job outta school when we re-labeled a co-worker's file cabinet drawer with "Gay Porn". That label was on the bottom drawer of the file cabinet under his desk for liek a year before anyone noticed. He had a technical writer at his desk one day to review some work instructions and she spots it. She's all "That's not very appropriate." he was embarrassed. That was the end of it. I shudder to think what that little prank would unleash out of the HR department today. There would be diversity training, all company meetings, volunteering, paying back the community, and for sure some terminations. Ahhhh the 90s. it was a simpler time. |

Well my buddy heard back from the guy. He's definitely not local. Has a story about being called out to TX for work, had to leave in a hurry. Told my buddy he wanted to wrap this up fast and needed a deposit. Told him he was welcome to go by the house and look in the window but since he's in TX he cant let him in for a tour. Wants a deposit and will mail him the keys. Do people actually fall for this shit?
Anyway, told my buddy he needs to respond back with "Great! I'll swing by this weekend and take a look" Then we head over there and take some hilarious staged photos. we just let ourselves in and say the door was wide open. I could lay on the ground with a fake knife in my back and fake blood on the floor. We could put his 3 dogs, cat, and 4 chickens in a room with my 2 dogs and get a photo of all the "ferrule" animals living in the house. He's got photos from when he remodeled the house and tore our drywall and cut the floors out so there's just floor joists and dirt below We could include those photos and be like "What the fuck are you trying to rent to me? This place is trashed! There's a dead guy in the kitchen. I'm calling the cops right now and putting them in contact with you a this e-mail address..." |

We just finished our harrassment training here last week. The entire time I was thinking of the stuff we did at an unnamed former employer. That shit would NOT fly today......at all. The workplace is like a prison now compared to the shit we used to get away with. I feel sorry for the generation entering the workforce these days. I used to keep Grey Goose in the fridge in my office and would occasionally tell my employees to go "hang out" in my office for a few, after dealing with an unruly customer. It worked great! The employees appreciated my understanding, my being laid back and offering 2 shots only (while the store was open, closing was a different matter all the way around) and honestly, it worked to my advantage as well; watching good sales people do their thing after having a couple of shots was A.) hilarious and B.) always resulted in more sales. Funny how alcohol makes sales people better at their craft. .......then there were the unofficial Christmas parties that we had with the other shops in the strip mall.....during business hours; the store next to us was a "Head Shop." Ahhhhhh.....good times. |

We all had modems (9600) and I had a scheduled task that would dial and download a pic. That pic was displayed via his autoexec 89,90 maybe

Yes people fall for this, right now properties are being rented without people seeing the property. People are doing virtual tours the saying they will take it and send deposits. This is happening all over Florida. My son did it two years ago when we moved to Florida. Went down for a couple days to rent a house could not find one either good ones were gone in hours of listing or they were garbage. He work with local agent and when one came up they saw pictures and told the agent they would take. Last edited by Maestro; 09-21-2020 at 12:42 PM.. |

Seriously, I am sick and tired of those contact suckers ("-We want to suck your cock. -I don't want you to suck it. -Without that we won't provide the service you seek!") denying even my legal right to have no number. When a BMW service wanted my E-mail and I chose to share one, I spelled it several times, explained the origin (those words for adults ), corrected a mistake on their display and still found it wrong in the paperwork. "No spam for me, Argentina!" Usually I give them their own number (to enjoy ) but sometimes it's (easy and simple) 123456789 and I don't care about it's owner , if any. And I let them call me Susan. (Sorry, Susan! ) |

Yeah, it's a blast trying to explain this to the girlfriend. She's been around long enough to where she knows what's happening and laughs about it now; but it used to cause problems. |

There is a 99% chance that this scammer is not even from the states, most of these scams are run through VPN to give a false sense of impression to the others. I got a call the other day about my taxes...some personal details were correct... and that I have to pay immediately to avoid prosecution !!! (The guy was not able to speak in English fluently..can you imagine)

I attempted to track this guy down, but he was not used a real identity either, everything about him was fake. I suspect the police have caught up to him in recent years since the collection calls have stopped. |

the key to scamming scammers is to make them believe you will actually send them money eventually. if you have nothing but time to kill, you can at the very least, get them extremely pissed off also, meeting in person wont work. 99% of the time these people are not local and probably not in the USA.
