Clutch Replacement
Has anyone replaced their clutch with LUK? Mine seems to be nearing the end of its life and there is a great deal on RockAuto ($309 CAD Shipped):
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...lutch+kit,1993 On the same note, does anyone know what else is needed during a clutch replacement for the Z4Ms? The one from RockAuto states that it has everything required, but I would just like to make sure. Also, would you guys recommend replacing the flywheel as well? Furthermore, does anyone have a trusted shop where I can bring the parts and have them install it for me? Thanks in advance! |

I can't comment on whether you should replace the flywheel. Don't want to bring you down the wrong path, some cars require replacement when the clutch is done, others can be resurfaced, I don't know which is the case here. As for shops, there is always White Eagle in Mississauga, 11tenths in Scarborough, and RMP in Etobicoke, all are very competent BMW specialists.

Clutch
I had mine done last summer. I bought the flywheel from RockAuto since it was half the price I was quoted. The installer said he usually replaced the flywheel although they could be resurfaced but he did not recommend it. I am very satisfied with the work that was done. If the flywheel was not needed, I was going to send it back to RockAuto. Both RMP and my installer quoted $950 for the complete job

Thanks for the replies everyone! Hopefully I will meet you all in person at a meet this year when the restrictions are eased/lifted.
I will send emails to the shops listed and to obtain a quote. What was the name of your installer accent if you don't mind sharing? |

I didn't mention it because it was in Hamilton, but the shop is on Upper James. I was very satisfied with their work. The shop is Sampson Transmission

I feel that its nearing the end of its life because the grab point is pretty high up in the pedal travel. I also haven't checked under the car to see if a CDV delete was done or not (maybe I should do that this weekend) because I've read that that screws up engagement feel if you're use to driving manual. But with a slow release, it still just grabs uncomfortably high for me, and without a good "bite". But, funny enough, the clutch kit (and a set of sparkplugs) are still sitting in the online cart waiting for me to click purchase! I haven't gotten around to it because the clutch hasn't slipped on me yet so there has to be some life left in it. I just thought it would be a good idea since the clutch kit was on sale and the cheapest I can find anywhere. As of right now though, the price is still the same "sale" price, so I'm not too worried about getting it going back to normal anytime soon (though I should get to ordering the parts at least). |
