MCast - GT4 Race Conversion
Over the years the Coupe has went through a number of changes and I after selling the Spec e46 I have decided to convert Coupe to a full race spec GT.I finally was able to source the right kit from Germany for the look and purpose I needed. Most of the parts are in and its time to get the ball moving.
This weekend I spent most of my time getting the car torn down to the shell, over the next few weeks we will be getting the suspension installed so we can get it rolling and over to the fabricators to complete the cage. This should be fun, |

Will eagerly follow this thread, thanks for sharing!
Question, what is the silver looking plate where the rear bulkhead used to be? I'm really wanting to remove the rear bulkhead on my car for weight and also because I would love that open to the cockpit look. As both a street and HPDE car, i would lose the upper seat belt mounting points, correct? |

I did have mounts for the standard seat belts, but the reality is a half cage is only practical if you are doing HPDE's or time trials. As much as I love my car it is obnoxious on the street, and after selling my Spec e46 I decided to go all on the coupe. |

Very cool! Are you going with the Goke body kit? I recently emailed them to ask some questions about the front bumper and rear wing set up.

My full kit I will have includes:
The nice part about this kit is that the front and rear fenders are only 5mm wider than the stock and allow you to retain the rear bumper. The GTR kit was produced for a different chassis, which is why you see such a huge gap in the fender-wells when people put in on the standard chassis. |

Keep me in the loop as I could be interested in the front/rear fenders and front bumper. Do you know if there is a weight savings with the parts? I am mainly interested in the fenders since their 5mm wider but some weight savings would be a nice bonus. Also do you happen to know if their rear wing can be used with the factory trunk? I asked Jan Goke but have yet to get an email back.

The real benefit as you said was getting that 5mm fender extension as it maintains a clean look and gives you enough to fit a 285 width tire easily. I am planning on putting up a site with all the available mods in stages for purpose built cars. |

Sister Car secured
Interesting day as I was able to finally secure the sister car chassis from TCKline for the second build. This will probably be built for endurance racing.

the part about the GTR kit is produced for a different chassis, however is incorrect. its the same e86 chassis. however the rear diff is solidly mounted to the rear frame, not using a diff hanger like on your stock e86/e85. There are some modifications on the wheel housing too, but its the exact same chassis. And the rear fender wells gap is on purpose, it allows you to run proper race slicks, with a proper side wall. anyhows, great buildup, looking forwards on seeing the progress. More race Z4's is more info available, so def looking forwards to how you proceed. Also wondering what class your building for and what the limitations are? Are you building a cage? or just the rollbar? wow, so your building 2 coupes now? thats awesome!! just remember, its probably cheaper to buy a fully race prepped car (like the one in the for sale section or the Petrona's Coupe over in Europe and shipping it, then piecing these things together. Any hows, love what your doing and where your going with this

And Then There were Three
Things are going to get interesting. After securing the second chassis from TC Kline, I got a call on any interest in taking another local car. A 3.0si with a M Sport package including the M front bumper and hood which I sold to the previous owner.
This car will move into the second position and be a dedicated for endurance racer for WRL and AER. The tear down will commence once the C-Mod car reassembly is complete. Should have more pics next week once we get back from picking up the other chassis three together next week. |

I started on the suspension today. MCS 3ways, AKG DTM control arms, Achilles bump stops, and Ground Control sway bars.
