Which nav unit did you buy exactly? How did it mount to the dash and does it completely cover the dash opening?
More pics would be great when you have a chance. thanks Quote:

I do not have the same interface as the newer BMWs.. The screen you are seeing is the Apple Car Play Screen. Which is all i really wanted. The base-plate is a tad small so it doesn't perfectly cover the existing nav screen cutout.
I am in touch with a another guy that installed this screen and is working with a vendor to come up with a properly sized base plate that does not require trimming. Although this exact nav solution is not perfect once the custom base-plate is made its gonna be A+ in my eyes. I will try to snag more photos this weekend |

Out of curiosity, why can't you reuse the OE's GPS antenna since you have the OE NAV? |

Just remembered...the GPS antenna is connected to the NAV DVD drive in the center rear console

This was posted in a Z4 FB group. Not affiliated but they claim it fits and works with E85/E86’s. I’m curious but not willing to cut a hole in my dash.

The installed picture looks almost like it's intended to fold into the dash, but no indications in the description or pictures that it does. If it doesn't fold, it's a pretty clunky looking structure behind the screen, and the pictures of the standalone unit and the installed unit don't match. What little description there is, is confusing at best, and there is also no installation manual to peruse - just not enough info there for me to take a risk. Hi no update from me.... I am still working out some kinks... Need to download the andoid 10.0 update. Also need to mess around with the settings as the clock always resets and the volume does as well. Nothing major because as soon as I pair my iphone i go into car play mode and the time is accurate.

......watching this thread closely. That Alpine looks interesting as well. My issue is I have the factory NAV and I DO NOT want to cut the dash in case the car has to go back to stock (because the value went thru the ceiling to a 6 figure collectors item!!)

I certainly would be very interested in a base plate from Skyer.
Would this baseplate just be a filler plate? |

Did you ever get this? I got the OEM Nav screen, everything people are posting here is about cutting a new hole but i want to just replace the crappy existing nav and base. |

Hi , i tried to read back on the thread to see who had which OEM fit. Did your z4 have the factory nav screen? If so was anymore cutting required? Did the new base fully cover the old one? Do you have a direct link to the one you bought? How are the features? I am curious how easy it is to use, does it show car performance similar to the old nav screen? |
