The expanding rivets? They should have screws in them to make them expand. Just take the screws out.
Then put the "tray" up by turning the knobs and remove the fix-a-flat and air compressor from the top. There's 3 nuts up there that come off, and the box should pop right out.

The rivets are sort of a pain. I put a fork behind the flange and then remove with slight outward presure. It works for me? Should have put while unsrewing.

8mm socket.. loosen the nut and wiggle/pull.

Make sure it’s the nut in the back to the right of the positive terminal that you’re trying to remove, or else battery won’t come out. Here’s a picture from the top view provided by KevinC
