A/C Belt Tensioner
My '06 Z4MR A/C belt is needing to be replaced. Is it recommended to also replace the belt tensioner when doing so? She's a hair away from 60K miles. The drive belt looks fine, so I assume it was replaced at some point.

I replaced mine proactively when one of my idlers got wobbly and I replaced everything, but in retrospect, I think it was overkill.
And that was at about 100k miles. If it's not wobbly, I wouldn't bother.

That's what I was thinking. My local dealer wants to replace the tensioner and the belt ($527 quote). I do take what any dealership says with cynical skepticism. Anyways, this seems like an easy enough DIY project, from the YouTube videos I have seen. I've got enough expenses with trying to do Inspection II here soon, so the more I can DIY, the better.

Replacing the AC belt is about a 15 minute job, and 10 minutes of that is removing and replacing the diaper.

On a different subject, it looks like your bumper has made it to El Paso, TX. A bit of a strange route to LA. Should have made a right turn at Albuquerque, as Bugs Bunny would say.

Yep, I was thinking the same. This isn't Pismo Beach!
Hopefully it's not going to continue into Mexico.

I got an email update that it got to Phoenix. So, it's most of the way there.

I had the belt off while I was replacing my alternator, and knowing that they're a wear item, I gave each pulley a good hearty wiggle.
Main tensioner pulley had obvious slop in the bearing. Eventually they'll start to rattle and squeak.

Squeaky tensioner is what I had when I bought my car back in 2009. This may have been my first fix. I think the mechanical tensioner was discontinued at that time so I bought a non-OEM replacement from Rocky Mountain European online.
