New Z4 owner - Canton, GA
Hey all,
I recently picked up this Z4 and am absolutely loving it! 2004 3.0i 6speed manual... I do have some questions maybe you guys know the answer too. The previous owner put these CSL wheels on it (which look amazing!) but they're a bit wide and if I hit a bump while aggressively taking a turn, the rears scrape the inner fender, and in some cases cut into the tire sidewall! I've read about fender rolling to fix this problem, but cant seem to find any one to do it. I also have an airbag light on now (wasn't there when purchased) and I have the cable and a pc (with the BMW software), but am having trouble getting everything talking. Any suggestions? I'm in Canton, GA and work in Marietta. Thanks! |

Awesome! Welcome to the club. I have an '07 3.0SI Coupe that I bought in April. To answer your questions my suggestion for the fender rolling and airbag light would be to give Todd Wilson a call. He owns Bavarian Repair in Woodstock and he has done all the work on my Zed. He can scan the light and either roll the fenders or likely suggest a reputable place. I have done only a tiny amount of coding on my car. I have a laptop and cable as well. I coded the 3 blink flick. Has your setup worked for other BMWs? What behavior is exhibiting as opposed to when it works on other cars? My setup is slow but it works.
Again, welcome to the Z4 community. This board is filled with really helpful guys. Motor On! |

congrats on the new Z and welcome.
on the wheel rub you can also check the rear camber. You might be able to dial in a little more neg. camber. Fender rolling is easy, there are places that you can rent the tool and DIY. You will also have to reshape the plastic liner a bit with a heat gun. Hard to say on the air bag without some diagnostics & codes.

Thanks everyone! I took her over to Todd and he was great to work with. Scanned the codes and gave the car a full once over, AND rolled the fenders to near perfection!
He was extremely fair on the price too! I'll definitely be using Bavarian Repair for all my needs. Sgt.FacePlant (nice name, skater? ) I havent had the time to dig much more into the coding stuff. I have the cable and a WinXP virtual machine with the software on it, and thats it for now. Its a new setup so it hasnt worked (or been tested) on any other cars yet. |
