Thanks for the info guys, I guess ESS and my shop are correct, 79mm slips so they're only supplying 82mm supercharger and 135mm crank pulleys. Space looks tight on the crank pulley, so I chose not to get a custom 140mm pulley yet. I can always check first, and then re-sell the 135mm
My kit is on order, with 135mm and 82mm pulleys. Got the flash tuner also to reduce downtime, make it easier to re-tune when needed, and reduce ECU damage risk by shipping it. As for an 8 rib setup, I can get this done also, but I'm worried about building a 525+ kit with smaller pulleys without some hard data first. I don't want my daily and only driver to be a prototype vehicle.

i forget ... are we gen 3 tiago?? i agree, the hardware is very good... tuning on the z4m is still an issue imo, due to the limited market n0-one is interested in spending more time with it, however, VF managed to get their 570 kit working on the stock ecu and large injectors.. don't understand why ess couldn't.

does the gen 3 bracket have an engine brace point like the VF series?? never understood why ess didn't incorporate that.... I've ordered a VF one that I'm going to cut and re-weld create a pretty much flex free bracket.
on a side note, i don't want anymore power from my little z4m now, my target is to lighten, its at perfect power level for the sprint and track scene i run in, actually too much power, even on semi slicks i can light them up all day, but was really pleased to see the car punching well above it weights in the time trials. i did see one guy that custom tapped his ess bracket and added another roller right under the pulley giving more belt wrap, however at my configuration, this isn't needed... weight-loss is where i want to concentrate.

I'll start with the software. During the ecu flash the fuel pump was whining loudly and the fuel needle swung to max. Was worrysome
Seems like when i coast to a stop, the rpm drops to a 900-1000rpm idle for about 10 secs. On 2 starts the idle was fluctuating between 500 and 1000rpm, car was coughing a little. On the highway the under light throttle the traction light came on and The throttle stopped responding for 3 seconds. Had a small throttle surge in 3rd gear too. I'm worried about my aeromotive fuel pump a little. Hope it didnt get damaged during programming. I'm gonna re-set my throttle adaptation too Hardware is a 83mm blower pulley, 135mm crank, different waterpump pulley so its not overdriven i think. Dont have my boost gauge in there at the moment. Only doing near redline pulls So far its better than my badly slipping old pulley, especially up top.

The starts haven't been smooth about 1/2 the time, with fluctuations in revs slight sputter in the first 2 seconds. Waiting to hear back from my shop, what ESS recommends. A re-flash didn't help.
Overall, the car feels like it has a small flat spot in power in between 5,000 and 6,000 rpm, but maybe my butt dyno is off. Will get it on a normal dyno soon. I didn't notice any big difference in the pre-200 mile drives, post 200, and re-flash second time. Same power level, very dependant on ambient temps. Traction control kicks in top of 3rd gear, but my tires are old. The car also pulls to the sides under heavy power with traction off, partially because of the limited slip diff doing its thing, but I think new rear control arm bushings will help things. I ordered the Rogue black RTABs, and new oem fronts since I didn't find a streetable quiet upgrade solution for the fronts. My boost gauge is out of the car, I need to ship it to the manufacturer to re-fresh the rubber buttons. 84k miles on the car! |

Time for an 85k mile refresh. Some underbody panels are damaged and will be replaced. My oil tube developed a slow leak from rubbing the fender liners. Oem front control arm bushings (no obvious aftermarket solution found) and RE black rear ones

seriously considering upgrading to that new style bracket, Ess has priced it all out for me and its not that bad BUT.... seems kinda waste of money at 500 pulley size spec which doesn't really get belt slip anyway, On the other hand, i really like the idea of the added belt wrap and should give more consistent boost figures, but... i have to be honest, never really noticed an issue with the current setup, I'm guessing its more needed when the pulley size goes down to the 575 spec.
i suppose while I'm in their i could upgrade the water pump pulley ( what does this do again from the one i have?) i i had one of the original beta 500 kits as you did i believe, But again, this has never been an issue and I've never seen the car overheat, ever or even get overly warm. Im guessing the new pulley slightly overdrives from stock maybe? Basically not sure ill see any benefit from spending my hard earned on the above hardware upgrades from what i have now. Not sure what to do tbh, would love your 2 cents on all the above, feel free to give brutal honestly, i need it, so .... go for it ?? or stop messing for the sake of it and enjoy?? Byron.

however I've decided I'm wasting my money tbh... neither have been an issue for me and ess made the bracket changes for the 575 spec kits which uses a very small pulley, not an issue on the 500-550 spec kits. Im replacing pieces that have always worked and are working as they should, i need to stop always looking for the next thing and be happy with what i have. however something new in the works... i will post update in due course. Don't want to talk about something I'm unsure on as yet.
