ZFest
Anyone here ever attend ZFest? Just wondering. I joined the ZSCCA Facebook group but I don't recognize any of the guys in the group on here or vice-versa. Looking at their event pictures, I didn't see a lot of people join Zfest that was into modding their cars like I see here.

I have been to ZFEST. I have some mods, most of them you will never notice and I kinda like it that way. ZSCCA does a great job of bringing a local group of like minded people together for events and sharing of resources. The ZSCCA has always been known for their driving events, great roads to drive, points of interest to visit and it becomes more about a group of people that enjoy their cars and the people that have them. IMHO is is more fun to do group events with the same car type, ( when you talk about your car we understand what you are saying ) type of mindset.
I sometimes wounder why a given person buys a Z. Did you like the styling, the performance and handling, did you like the fact that there was not 300,000 made in one year. Different strokes for different folks. But at the end of the day we have one. Do you use your Z as a daily driver or just use it for a weekend romp. The ZSCCA has room for all mindsets and it tends to merge at gatherings. Have you ever gone to a concert and people watched? People from 16 to 70 showing up at the same event, sets a mind to thinking. What are those people doing here? Taking it to the next step you realize that some people like the same things you do, even if not for the same reason. Does that make a difference or do you have something in common with people that are different than you? Can I learn something that I did not know before? I was once told that I could only hope to know as much as the combination of people I associate with and the more you associate with the more rounded I become. Long story short. If you have a passion for something, is it not more fun to surround yourself with people that have thew same passion as you. ZSCCA is so much more than a yearly event (ZFEST). Try it you might like it IMHO , you reap the rewards when you put something into what ever you are doing. Have a great day.

There are somethings that can never be unseen, lol Good times for sure.
Totaled the 2004 in 2010, bought a 2006 3.0 si, had an ECU tune and loving the extra bits. Retirement is not what it is thought to be, stay active and never stop moving forward.

I'll have to try to make it to Zfest next year. It's still in PA. It looks like a good time. Someone mentioned in FB that Zfest used to have as many as 600 cars attend!

In 2008, 680 cars, sponsored by BMW for 12 years, the event was called Homecoming and was held at the plant where the cars were made, 2008 was the last Homecoming set-up by BMW, as the production of the cars moved to Germany. ZSCCA took over and has been raising the bar as ZFEST ever since.

Why did BMW stop building the Z here? Was it due to lagging sales?

The x cars were made in the same plant since 2003, x6 in 2006. I am guessing that they planned to sell more X car here than Z.

I had Ginger till 2009 and sent her back east at that point. She was looking a bit worn out at that time and was retired IIRC. For those that are not in the know, The was a group of Z4 owners on a EU forum, Ginger was passed around EU for several years and was sent to the east coast where she met people for a couple of years and then she came to the west coast for almost 3 years. She met people from out here ( that had no clue what Homecoming was or ZFEST for that matter ) and actually went around the world, literately.

I did not attend in 2014, a bit of a haul from California. I have met so many Z owners in the past 10 years of ownership. SoCal is a destination for people on business and pleasure. If I find out a Z owner is in town, we try to G2G for a meal or a tour of the area. When we travel I contact the Area Rep in that area for routes of interest and local points of interest, A go here and don't waste your time going here sorta thing. That is a value that is not found everywhere.
