So, there's a guy on FB who installed N52 headers built for the e90/92. Here's the dyno without headers, with headers and with headers with tune. 283hp.

Was it a straight install or was there some fabrication to get them to work?

The guy said it took some fabrication.

Peak hp on dyne doesn't mean much since every dyno baseline will vary. The delta is what's most important and 22hp is pretty darn good.
There's a guy on e90post (sn: TSM330i) that drives a Z4 3.0si race car and he has Supersprint headers -- those are the only direct fit ones I know of. I have thought about SS headers for a while but emissions is too much of a b*tch to deal with. |

It was some guy in europe. He didn't provide pictures of his headers. If you have the stomach for it, you can try to joint the Z4 owners group on FB and try to contact the guy for more info. This is probably hundreds of posts ago.

I don't trust one-off dynos, because so many put in their own correction factors to read whatever they'd like. Wheel horsepower, on a Dynojet, with SAE correction factor, is my preferred standard. That's not to say other dynamometers aren’t as accurate, but a Dynojet is common and results are replicable. Otherwise, you get a bunch of guys claiming, “Well x dyno reads lower than a Dynojet, so on a Dynojet I would have 50 more horsepower…”
I agree that the delta is what matters. It’s about % difference, not just the actual horsepower numbers. Throwing in a different correction factor can inflate the numbers and therefore the horsepower gain. And the graphs should show multiple runs with each setup. There was ~8 horsepower difference between my first and third (worst and best) runs on my non-M.

I wish I had more info, but this is the best info we have. The guy used a header from a N52 made for a 328. He had to have it customized so it would fit his Z. SuperSprint makes one for the Z that is a direct fit.

Direct fit to manifold, NOT to section 1. You have to buy their high flow (secondary) cats if you want a pnp system or have an exhaust shop build you custom piping to get everything to mate up. Btw those 2ndary cats from Supersprint are even MORE expensive than the headers lol.
