Picked up 2007 Black M Coupe

Hey all,

Been kinda lurking here and gathering information for the last month. This weekend I finally pulled the trigger and got a 2007 Black Sapphire M Coupe with red Imola interior and power seats, heated seats and BMW Assist/Bluetooth. Here are the numbers:

MSRP - 54,595
Cap - 43,350
Acq. Fee - 625
Residual - 66% (24 month lease, 10K per year)
MF - 0.00275
No down for cap reduction
$1,000 for 1st month and tax, California title, registration, etc.
Monthly: 597

I know I probably could have pushed for a bit more but I am pretty happy with the deal. Turning in my e90 330 (had it for 24 month lease) is a little sad but the M Coupe is a whole different animal. Got this at the SF BMW, they have another M Coupe (Imola Red, premium, navi - $57K MSRP) and are ready to deal if anyone in the Bay is interested.

My 1st impressions so far:

Pluses:
+ Acceleration is awesome. Really pushes you back in the seat. I've been wanting a car with this kind of accleration my whole life. Whereas the e90 was kind of a let down when you shifted to second, this just seems to take off again. Test drove the e92 335 coupe and this really feels like blows that away even thought Car and Driver gets almost the same 0-60.
+ Really, really sticks to the road. Only put a few miles on it and the tires are still a little slick, but this thing is like a damn go-cart.
+ Maybe I'm used to the CDV thing cause it was on my e90 but I'm surprised that its not THAT bad to shift when not pushing it hard.
+ I didn't get it to get noticed, but just driving around the city Saturday night got like 3 comments from other drivers, cyclists, etc. in about 20 minutes. It really looks beautiful. No offense to roadster owners, but I really wanted a convertible and just couldn't get past how nice the coupe looks. Really love the red interior.
Minuses:
- Like others, there is an issue with the 1 to 2nd shift when you're really on it. As it is new, I don't want to push it too much but I'm not going to entirely baby it either. When I test drove another M coupe, I got that 2nd gear grind thing and it really sucks. With this one, I have sort of had it happened once, but only when I was a little to caught up in the moment and not concentrating on the shift. I've found if I start to press the clutch in before I naturally would, it seems to be okay. I'm still a little scared when I floor it in 1st and then shift to second, so hopefully it gets better, because this could really take away from the fun if you have to shift super carefully whenever you want to rev it up.
- Stiff enough to jostle you around a little, not as bad as I expected in the city, but the highway (on 280, which is beautiful and not that bumpy) was less comfortable than I expected. Might just need to get used to it.
-Dudes in GT Mustangs (previous generation Stang) seem to want to try and race me, something that never happend in the e 90.

Anyway, love the car and really excited to break it in and really push it. Will try to get some photos up soon. Big thanks to everyone on the forum, getting all the info about the discounts people were getting really helped me when deciding what to go for.

Drive safe, Morades

Congrats, Man! The black w/ red interior is gorgeous.

I kind of LIKE when other drivers wanna play. I seldom play along, but I take it as a compliment and it always makes me smile.
