Anyone interested in Painted Reflectors?
So I have only had my M Coupe for 4 days and I want to barf every time I see the orange reflectors.... I have a paint shop I have always used here in SoCal who is excellent and I'm thinking if we can get like 10 of each color we can easily get a good price on getting them painted body color. Anyone would be interested? I'm thinking the way it would work is you shipped me your reflectors with color code and payment and after they are done I'll ship them back? These types of painted reflectors go for about $50.00. or... depending on how cheap they are, like less than $10 per pair... i can just get them painted and send them out as order? who would be interested and how much would you be willing to spend? thanks.

Hmm, sounds like something that would be more efficient to just take to the BMW dealer (or other paint shop if they don't do body work)

actually not, because most paint shops will charge you for a full litre minimum, to mix paint which is $60-$80... and labor minimum of 1 hour... usually around $100. whereas 1 hour of labor and 1 litre will paint 10 sets of reflectors, you divide that cost between 10 people and the cost drops dramatically. right now my estimates are averaging about $50 per set INCLUDING new reflectors so you get to keep your stock orange ones.

I'm interested in Interlargos Blue front and read (I know you're only looking to do fronts, but I think most would also be interested in rears also) should also be able to get a discount on the purchase of the reflectors.

well let me know what your price on the reflectors is? the best price i got was $16.69 if i buy more than 15 sets which is 25% off list and they told me they are only make like 2 or 3 bucks per set that way since they are such a low priced item as it is... as it currently sits my plan is to make... all fronts,
Alpine White (5 Sets) Sapphire Black (5 Sets) Silver Gray (5 Sets) Imola Red (3 Sets) Interlagos Blue (3 Sets) my painter just left for SEMA but by his rough quote i think i will be able to do the fronts for right about $60 shipped +/- a few dollars to everyone.... which is about $5-$10 more than people pay for the E46 ones from vendors, but they don't include shipping so it's really about the same. the above is what i prospect demand will be...... I am going to make a list of everyone who already said they were interested in them... you can add yourself in the format which i post the list...I think i will leave it up for about 2 weeks to get as much feedback as possible because the more we get, the cheaper the cost for everyone... |

if you want to ship me the red ones i can get them done as well, however, the reason i don't want to do the rears, is because A. they have lights in them, they aren't simply reflectors, and B. because they have a electric components in them the parts would be much more expensive to purchase, paint, and sell compared to the front reflectors.

that's cool... i think tint looks kind of half ass... but it works better for you since you have a black car, furthermore, i think painted reflectors look half ass too but i'm not about to spend $375 + paint cost for a euro bumper cover... and let's be real, we drive $60,000 cars... what's $60?
