Fake ///M??
Coming home today I saw a dude in what appeared to be a 2001-2004 528i with a bunch of ///M badges. He had an //M5 badge on the back, ///M badges on both sides and an ///M front plate (no fromt plate required in MI). He did have ///M wheels but that's it.
I can honestly say that I've never seen anyone do this before. I was a little disappointed. Anyone else seen someone fake an ///Mgasm? |

I've seen plenty of fake M3 series.

What I find funny is down badging. There is a guy with an E39 M5 with a 520d badge on the back "What just blew by me?? Some diesel"

Why does it bother you guys if you see someone else with an ///M badge on their car if it's not the genuine thing? Maybe they couldn't afford to pay the extra $10-$30k more for an ///M (depending on BMW model) and they like how the badges look. I personally wouldn't re-badge my car with a different model name, but to each their own I guess. Both of my BMW's are de-badged....does that mean I'm trying to hide what I have? I have several ///M accessories in both cars....I don't think that makes me a 'poser' or anything of the like. I simply like the look better.
I see Geo Metro 'Type R" cars along with minivans with Cadillac badges on 'em. Who cares?

I can understand adding accessories that enhance your driving experience, but adding badges just seems like you're pretending to have something you don't. I had 4 BMW's prior to getting an ///M, and for myself, I can't imagine doing that. I appreciated each car for what it was. It's been my experience that most non-BMW enthusiasts don't even know what the ///M stands for! I really don't care what other people do, it's just my opinion that it looks a little silly. |
