AFE Intake 2.5i???
So I purchased a used AFE intake system on ebay about a year or so ago. The seller said it was for a 3.0i. However, when I came to install it yesterday, the flange that's integral with the heat shield is too small to receive the intake boot. In other words, the intake boot will not fit inside of the flange. Does this mean the seller sold me a 2.5i Afe system? Do the intake boots on the 2.5i have a smaller diameter than the 3.0i intake boots?

For regular cones they would. But aFe has a solid collar on the heat shield. So there wouldn't be any room to put a coupler. I'd rather skip any modifications and just sell it. I already have a K&N cone filter with a heat shield on. I doubt the aFe will provide any benefits over the K&N.

Do you have the part number? 100651 is for the 2.5i and 10661 is for the 3.0i
I have the AFE intake on my 2004 3.0i and it sounds awesome, especially with the sound generator foam out. Yet it's still quiet at low RPM.
