Euro Header Fitment
Hi there!
Recieved my headers finally! Jumped right into the install and everything went very smooth right up until I went to tighten the flanges to section one. The rear bank connected up fine but the front bank is about an inch short and neither side is a slide coupling? The rear header flange is a slide coupling but the front header flange is welded. Was able to pull it somewhat together with longer bolts but still have a gap. In all the threads I read about euro header install this never came up. Is there enough play in the system as a whole to loosen it and try and make it fit? Or should I have that side of section one extended when I have the 02 bungs welded in? Any thoughts? On a higher note, definitely picked up some nice HP/Torque even with this issue. Just have to optimize/update my ESS tune for headers now...

Something is not lined up right if it doesn't pull together.
The section 1 pipe has to slip over the header pipe ends. Sometimes they jamb when sliding them in.

Hmmmmm...Header pipe ends were definitely slid into the section one openings. Maybe I cocked the whole section one a bit when I tightened the rear bank flange. It was about an inch gap on both banks but the sliding flange on the rear bank slid enough for that bank to mate up correctly. Figured the front bank flange would follow suit and was surprised to see it was welded unlike the US stock headers and the rear bank Euro header?
Oh well, it'll have to wait to next weekend. I like wrenching and all but that's enough for one day! Section one will be coming off the car and going to the exhaust shop to have all the bungs welded on this next Sat. and then I'll see if it is just an alignment issue or if something is bound up. Definitely worth it! Thanks!
