Chances are you won't like this... "Frozen Grey" Z4 inside
Hey Guys, since last time (http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=757338) I've added a couple of things, new bumper, dipped the wheels gold metalizer, dipped front lip, mirrors and pillars. And today I dipped the car matte clear... the results are pretty damn sweet.
Here are a couple of phone pictures (Lumia 920 FTW!), I will do a formal photoshoot later =) Here are some updated pictures, will continue with the rest a little later

I think it looks cool. The matte finish I believe will become more popular. Lots of cars at NAIAS were matte finish, something I'd never seen before at a manufacturers booth.

Thanks guys!!!
The car was plastidipped in Matte Clear. Basically it's a rubberized "paint" (in this case clear) that when it dries it gives the effect of the color being matte. Once you're tired or bored with it, you can remove it without the car's paint being messed up.

Yeah I think it looks cool, would love to see something like that in person. Agree with others though, too much amber in the lenses, and I'll jokingly call you out on the tow hook for a car that's not presently on the track in those photos...hahah...hey to each their own.

Please keep us in the loop and let us know how it holds up over time. Also like to know how you had it done. Paint booth? In your driveway? Garage? Approximatly what temperature / humidity? I've seen a few people do it and have it not come out great or last and I suspect it was the method / where they applied it.

I think it looks great, and is nice and subtle in this color. I like the frozen look the clear gives vs matte solid plastidip.
I agree that now the orange really sticks out. If you can change that it would look even better. Please post closeup pics of the wheels. I take it you spray black plastidip, then the metalizer? |

I did it in a friend's garage... the temp was approximately 86 degrees outside (gotta love Florida ) I took my time and when I was painting I did double coats... back and forth in the same place to create a bigger layer. One thing that I did notice was that the hood might need 1 or 2 more coats of clear, because it looks a bit thinner than the rest of the car... good thing about plasti dip is that it bonds once you spray it. This was once I painted it... after that I took all the gold from the tire... just a brush and you're good I've been thinking about painting that orange with the touch up paint that the car came with...

Front on shots showing the bumper and grills? The pics look good but you can'nt see a lot of detail, so the big question is: Does the car look better then the pics when seen in the sun?

That looks really good, loving the combo of the bronze wheels with the frozen body! What front bumper is that?
