APEX EC-7 wheel Pre-Order
APEX is proud to introduce its new EC-7 wheel. This new wheel addresses the concerns of more and more racers and track day enthusiasts: long term durability, fit and performance. With the increase of faster and heavier cars being used in racing, HPDEs, and spirited driving, the EC-7 was designed and engineered to handle extreme abuse on track and street, offer a wide range of direct fitments, while producing a lightweight wheel. The new features offered make the EC-7 the perfect compliment to the APEX ARC-8. An optimized car setup begins with the perfect wheel fitment. Without the perfect offsets, maximum tire widths and the potential of your car are always compromised. With this in mind, the EC-7 has three unique face profiles ranging from shallow to deep concavity resulting in 13 unique 18″ sizes. This wide range of fitments allows for vehicle-specific caliper clearance, offsets, and tire widths, creating the most optimal setup possible. Available Sizes and Weights and Retail Pricing:
Race Silver Anthracite Satin Black EC-7 Design Details The EC-7 adds 7 new BMW sizes not available in the ARC-8 design. The 3 face profiles offer maximum concavity and reduced weight. This avoids the common adaptation of a single face profile for unintended fitments or dependency on spacers. The EC-7′s spoke profile has been designed with a curve to provide additional caliper clearance. It can clear a BBK spacer free on applications where the ARC-8 could not. A significant improvement to the EC-7 is the increased barrel clearance that now allows for the 18″ version of this wheel to properly clear the Brembo 380mm BBK. Just like the rest of the APEX wheel line, the EC-7 is once again produced using the Flow-Forming technique. Flow-forming, which has also been called roll forging or spin forging, produces a barrel with similar strength to that of a fully forged wheel. This significantly reduces weight in the barrel, which has the greatest impact on rotational mass. Weve produced an even stronger wheel by combining the strength of the lightweight barrel with a more robust face design. The EC-7 welcomes endurance racing and potholes. Designed for BMW applications, the EC-7 accepts TPMS sensors, factory lug bolts or stud conversion kits, and OEM roundel center caps. All wheels come with APEX center caps. Warranty Summary: 2 year Structural, 1 year limited finish warranty guarantees wheels will be free from defects in materials, workmanship and paint finish under normal and reasonable use. Misc:

The website takes you through the order process to the checkout page. Are you charging our credit cards now, or when the wheels arrive to you to be shipped? Thanks.

Cards are charged after the close of the group buy (after July 26th). Which is just before the wheels begin to arrive.

18x8.5" ET35 or 18x9" ET42 are the correct front sizes for the OE suspension with a 245 tire.

Eddy:
- What is the recommended most aggressive (most concave) set-up that is a direct stock replacement (no mods/camber adjustment)? Please specify wheels and tire sizes. - Can you also mount TPMS and tires before shipping? Thx!

Tire sizes would be 245/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear. The wheels would look similar to below which are 8.5"/9.5" with 235 and 265 tires. The 9" wheels with 245 fronts and 275 tires in the rear will be more aggressive.

OEM tires
I know trialskid asked this same question, but I didn't see an answer. If we wanted to reuse our OEM tires, what size would we get? Thanks.

If you wanted to reuse your OEM tires, you would go with the 18x8.5" ET35 and 18x9.5" ET22, but the OEM tires will be slightly stretched. The recommended tire sizes would be the 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 if you were to put on new street tires. You can go with the more aggressive 245 and 275 combination as well, but you might risk rubbing onto the fender with those sizes. When looking at extreme summer tires such as the Hankook RS3 or Dunlop Star Specs, they do run a little wider so you may have a little bit of a rubbing issue, assuming you're still on OEM suspension as well.

What size wheels would you recommend if we wanted to run 245 / 275 tires front / rear without rubbing (I run Pilot Super Sports)?
EDIT: I'm on stock Z4M Coupe suspension (stock height and camber). Last edited by DanFromTucson; 07-18-2012 at 08:29 AM.. |

Since you are running stock suspension and camber I would recommend an 18x8.5 ET35 for the front and an 18x9.5 ET22 for the rear. The 10" wheel is 3-4mm more aggressive towards the fender than the 9.5" wheel. We had some customers who ran the 10" ET25 with 275/35's who had some fender rubbing. If you really want no rubbing and 275's than you should run 9.5" ET22's. Some 275/35 extreme performance summer tires and R-comps may rub but if you are running a less aggressive summer tire such as a Hankook V12 than there is less likelihood of rubbing.
