I have the manual one that I retract for track events. Works good no issues.

These work well. For a little while. Like a few months or so. They are flimsy. The design does not match the exposure to the elements, and the control cables are nearly impossible to keep in the proper tension. As a result, they fail. Thought I had a bad one, ordered another, same experience.

I had one a while back, ended up lowering my clearance by an inch b/c the bracket was underneath the bumper. If you cut out a portion of the lower grills, that might work. I later got rid of it and got the Rho-plate...
If you're considering b/c you don't want to show a plate at all, I say just go no plate. If it's b/c you don't want to drill into your bumper, I say go Rho-plate since it attaches via tow hook. This show/go plate will still require some drilling, albeit underneath but still. |

I had been watching a few ebay auctions with the powered ones with plans to install just below the main face of the bumper-(thickest section).
It would require about 3/4" of trimming of the lower grid, but not very noticeable. This would keep it up higher from the elements a little better than down below. I'll document when I do it. No doubt additional strengthening and sealant might be required for a daily. |
