The point of supporting a 1 man show (DKF) is that you get really high quality material (supersprint level and higher) for a lower price since there was less cost to develop due to less people being involved.
The price non-GB should be 80% the group buy prices now and about 65% in the actual GB |

I agree with Byron here. I was skeptical when DKF approached me, until I physically saw the product for the first time. Since I have the product in my hands for testing, I can tell you that the quality is higher than anything else I have installed on our cars (Super Sprint, Eisemann, Rogue & RPI). In my opinion the system is in a league of its own bridging the gap between High end companies like Super Sprint and the "reigning champs" Akrapovic. The real proof of engineering success will be in the dyno numbers, but from a build quality standpoint, there is nothing at this level of quality available for the Z4 M. Four of the characteristics that stand out to me in terms of quality are the following: -Full ceramic coating (not just for looks, but for improved performance) -Machine welds -Race clamp design -Hanger innovation for improved adjustability and dampening

I think that an S-pipe + V1 resonator + Xpipe + sport muffler should cost around 2500$ in the group buy, if that's possible, I'm down with the Group Buy.
Other than that, I cannot justify to myself blowing 4K for sound and a few horses, knowing that the stock system is already great by itself and all it needs is just a little bit of grunt. Not to mention the adapters being like a monetary sanctions for people who don't purchase the whole system. I really appreciate the level of engineering put in this system and i have been following this thread since day 1 because i am an engineer myself and i enjoy my car to the fullest but seeing this GB prices was like robbing me of my 10 million dollar lottery ticket. So many times I have turned down other exhaust systems waiting for this one. |

I'm not denying the outstanding quality, I was just hoping that since it's a small party project it would cosy less than the other exhausts, but it costs more and I can't talk my brain into this project no marr how wierd the excuses I keep coming up with.

You've evidently never been responsible for P/L on a volume-based project. DKF is responsible for the same fixed costs (R&D) regardless of how many pieces he produces. His dollar volume of R&D will be fairly similar to that of a larger performance exhaust manufacturer trying to develop a new product for a finite market. Assuming he is trying to break even, and not earn a profit off of the GB, and given the inordinate amount of research and development to-date, I'm surprised the system is this cheap. Don't forget, a company like Supersprint or Akroprovic can amortize their R&D across multiple product lines. DKF can't.

where are the costs of resource maintenance and employee salaries, ...
@beedub: the costs per person is much higher because it's 1 person, but overall the cost is much lower than maintaining a company. Anw, let's just leave it at that, I don't want to discuss my financial administration skills on the internet and I surely don't want to ruin the experience of this exhaust for anyone. A lower price would lure me in. Ehat happens if you completely decat the exhaust, less mpg or just a cel? |

No need to say that to me dub, why take it personally?
if you want to buy one, buy one, my ideas shouldn't be stopping you, i still have the right to say that it's expensive relatively to the costs. Maybe I'm wrong. No one said anything about the effect of de-catting, anyone? I'm still thinking about the cheapest option by decatting and using a street resonator with a sport muffler. lol I regret ever saying anything, I should have sent it to DKF.
btw i think "Akrapovic" is pretty retarded, same for the stupid not able to be raced valvetronic 7k muffler kreissieg. If you want to spend that much money on a Z4M, why not just buy a GTR, it costs as much as you guys have paid over the years. I hope you will be happy with the exhaust, I know I would if it was a tad cheaper. please let's just agree to disagree and continue shopping. any ideas about the CEL and MPG when de-catting? |

There is a straight pipe option with room for the 02 sensors. As far as CEL DKF can say more about that or crfine since they are one of the few that have the entire system and have been running them now for awhile. As far as MPG I really can't see it hurting it.
