Audio Aux cable doesn't work
Does anyone know why my Aux cable isn't being read by my radio unit?
I plugged it in to the far right corner where it says to plug in and it fits. But my radio isn't giving me an AUX option on Mode. Please help I'm tired of using an Fm transmitter to play my music |

Some cables are wired wrong...and you need to 're-wire' into the current harness.
Check out this thread to read up on it. http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=79054 and this one http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...46&postcount=2

I purchased a cable from eBay. It has a red, white, & yellow wire in a clip. I removed them and placed them in the OEM clip (bottom right under fuse) like the diagram shows next to the last two brown wires at the end top/bottom.
I put the white and yellow wires in top center and red on bottom 4th spot down. Under yellow. Still nothing is working. Frustrated in Pasadena |

Looks and sounds a little suspicious.
At least you're only out $7. I would recommend the stock cable. The stock cable has a nodule in the middle of it with some mystery bits that may be needed for it to be recognized. Here's an interesting thread.

Had the same issue, and read somewhere here on the forum that z4 needed a different cable that had a resistor in it. Ended up just getting an original part, which worked as expected out of the box. Thread linked by StickMon appears to suggest the same...

Thanks. Ya, I plan on getting my money back for a part that knowingly doesn't work from the seller.
I'll just have to save for the OEM part that costs $115.00 at a dealer. Thanks everyone for you help!! Very appreciated |

This one Salty? I have Bluetooth in my car. No Nav. I'm guessing I'll have to place this in the Bluetooth plug in the back (far bottom right) |

Have you tried using it with several devices. I know that most new Samsungs do not play through the AUX port due to some type of impedance. I would try with an older iPod or anything older with a 3.5mm output.

Hope the amazon cable works!!! It does say only that it fits 5-series, X5-s and X3-s... In any case, the one I got is https://www.ecstuning.com/ES194789/. Pricey, but definitely works, and still cheaper than from the dealer.
