The Art of Racing in the Rain is my "go to" gift for friends, car guys/gals or not. However, it can make you boss cry in the airport. There's a kid-friendy version called just Racing in the Rain, too.
From Ross Bentley (mentioned in the book): To be fast in the rain you have to enter turns just that little bit too fast. That way the car doesn’t take you by surprise when it begins to slide. If you enter too slow you’ll spend most of the turn wondering when the car is going to step out and slide – and then have to react to it. If you make it slide entering the turn you’ll know exactly what you’ve got and be ready for it. It’s the difference between being reactive versus proactive. Be proactive by making the car do something from the very instant you turn in. i.e., "That which you mainfest is before you." What a geat metaphor for approaching life in a "make it happen" way.

Just the title makes me miss rainy days at the track. Love the extra challenge when the track is "at the limit of grip" everywhere. |

Great Book. I don't get to read much for pleasure, but I could not put this one down. Anyone would enjoy this book, but if you are a track person the story comes alive.

I liked it, when I finished it I had to fire up my Xbox and do a few laps in Forza around Mugello driving a 430

Ayrton Senna died 19 years ago today. |
