Yet Another Laguna Seca Track Day
lol I went to yet another Laguna track day on March 28th/29th. This was like my 9th time out @ Laguna (home turf ^_^ ). It was a joint Trackmasters + PCA (Porsche Club of America) + Motorcycles event.
I couldn't run much on the 29th because my brakes were shot, and I didn't want to pay out of pocket for what would've been free under warranty Anyhow, it was the best showing of cars I've ever had the pleasure of running with. Enjoy the pix! Most of them are cell phone pix, so I do appologize The trackside photographer is supposed to send me more better pix. I requested for the ones where I was playing with the 458 Italia XD Last edited by mfanatic325; 03-31-2011 at 03:38 PM.. |

Looks like fun! Wow, that's some pricey (and very nice) equipment running around the track there....
Did you get new rotors along with pads? The rule--as it's been explained to me--is that pads must be worn to the wear indicators before they'll consider doing rotors. Even if the rotors are out of spec if the pads are good they won't budge. |

I could only swing new pads, but this new service adviser is extremely chill. He asked me how many more track days I was planning before my warranty is up, and I told him 2 more. He suggested that I romp on my brakes as much as possible and hope for the rotors to be worn down to below spec
But with new pads, my brakes feel like-new already, so I'm excited to thrash them these next two outtings edit: yup, just read up my service paperwork in more detail and it says... L/F rotors measured @ 26.69mm R/F rotors measured @ 26.60mm Spec = 26.4mm L/R rotors measured @ 19.75mm R/R rotors measured @ 19.54mm Spec = 18.4mm So I'm close to getting new fronts, but not just yet for the rears Last edited by mfanatic325; 03-31-2011 at 02:57 PM.. |

Keep checking the rotors for any stress fractures. As I'm sure you're well aware, the cross drilled areas are more prone to cracking, especially if the rotor becomes thinner...

hah I don't know much about that Maserati, especially since it was in a different run group. I had my hands full with the 458 and the other Ferraris and Porsches |

I'm moving back to Brazil in Fall. If I part the car out I'll definitely let you know... Or you could buy my car as a whole and part it yourself. HAHA!

lol wtf, I could barely swing a used set of BBK's (even if you were to do crazy hook-up). So there's no way I can buy an entire car, as much as I want to lol

Jw, who are you and what do you do to have so many armored cars? I'm sure it's been asked before and I just missed it.

All of these pix thus far are either pre-processed (raw) images from a digital camera, OR from my BlackBerry cell phone, which is only specced at 3.2 megapixels

I'm just another lost soul pursuing investment banking. My family is in the furniture manufacturing business and in a couple of other joint-ventures with Chinese companies. Brazil can be dangerous for some and I'm one of the unlucky ones. Lost my father in '98 and almost lost my brother in '02.

For example, I drove a Gallardo at California Speedway, and also sat with a client in a Gallardo...I couldn't believe some of the stuff that the car is capable of, he was hitting 150mph on the banked straight while BARELY pushing the car and taking an awful line out of the last turn. In my MZ4 Coupe I'd have to be right on top of my game to hit 145mph. I was taking some mental notes and that Gallardo was faster in the hands of a novice than my MZ4 Coupe in the hands of a decent driver through quite a few turns. The amount of grip, the mid mounted engine providing a shorter moment of inertia, the incredibly low center of gravity, the amount of POWER available all makes these über exotics incredibly easy to drive fast. You don't need much skills to rip out very fast laps.
