BMW Seattle?
Any experiences with this dealership? I'm about to take my ride in for it's maintenance on Wed and would like to know if you've been happy with their service. I have Geoffrey (sp?) as my service tech. I want them to check all the bits that I read about on the forums that are notorious for coming loose (Motor mounts, rear sways etc).

I've always had really good experiences with them, I usually have Ellie or Suzanne as my SA. I always ask them to not wash my car though, I never trust dealerships to not scratch my paint.

Jeff Pemberton is my service advisor. He's done a good job with communication and taking care of the "grey" service work.
That said, I did have a "dealership" story. A mechanic forgot to torque down the pulley when they replaced a failed power steering pump. That was an eventful ride home. So, bad service can happen anywhere, but they did a solid job of taking care of the mistake.

I have heard good things about their service. I just went to Kuni and they hooked me up and they had good service that day, even though I heard otherwise. So I think you're ok for Seattle.

I have only heard good things about this dealer and consistantly bad things about Bellevue. This is despite my family's 20 year relationship with the Bellevue dealer with zero issues.
Bottom line. I will be using Seattle only.

I deal with Service Advisor Alex Long, a fellow BMW Club member and International Conference of Sports Car Clubs http://www.icscc.com/ owner/driver. Alex makes sure my car is serviced by one of their senior techs like Bill or Travis. That being said I do all my own scheduled service and changed out my passenger side motor mount bracket bolts prior to them going bad and installed Nord Lock washers on the rear sway bar bracket bolts. If they change your oil be sure and check the level prior to leaving the dealership; they are known to overfill with six liters rather than 5.5 liter capacity. Check the bimmerfest Z4 forum FAQ for the details.

UPDATE
Just got back from my service and figured I'd respond. Jeff was my service advisor. He was cheery and accommodating. I asked to speak with the Service Manager, and they said he/she wasn't in, however the assistant was. Forgot the fellows name, but he wouldn't listed to word one about any of my concerns. He said ALL his techs work on ALL bmw's and that they ALL have the same training and stood by each one of them. (i.e. getting a 'specialist' wasn't going to happen, and I shouldn't even have asked). For instance... I said I'd prefer to only have 5.5L of oil in my car, and could they make sure to provide the other .5 leftover. He INSISTED that the oil came out of a barrel which had a litre-counter and that it didn't come from individual 1-litre containers. At the end, Jeff told me that indeed it DOES come in single 1L bottles, and that it's a special oil bla bla bla. Point is, the assistant service manager was the worst part of the whole deal. He may have been having a bad day, but his people skills were lousy and he just pish-poshed any questions or comments I had. Jeff was a welcomed change from this douche to say the least. All in all, not a bad service. For BMW. |

I have never purchased a vehicle from there (new or used), but I have been there a few times for service and haven't had any problems. I also work with Alex and really like him.

BTW Shannon is a "him" not a "her" .
Keep us posted on the response you get from Shannon. I've had no need to deal with Shannon because the level of service I get from Alex Long is outstanding. If you haven't gotten a call from a BMW survey person asking you to rate the level of service you will. If you rate an item lower than 5 on a 1 to 5 scale you'll definitely get a call from a BMW Seattle customer service person. http://www.bmwseattle.com/customer-service.htm The last time I checked the Customer Service office was occupied by Keith Peterson kpeterson@lithia.com

Got 'the call' and reviewed things. Very accommodating. Tony was the name of the assistant service manager who I had the issue with, and Shannon is being advised of this. Regardless, a pleasant experience overall and Jeff Pemberton was good at his job. A note has been made on the account so that Alex Long can take over in the future.
Gotta love the forums. Thx all! |
