chrome line interior problem.
hello all, I bought the chrome line retrofit from bmw for my 06 z4 and all parts fit fine except for the seat belt guides. do any of you know what needs to be done to make them fit. bmw shows them for my model year but the parts look nothing like the part that gets removed.
my thought is, that this was a option for the 03 to 05 and in 06 they changed the seat belt guides and this part wont fit, what can i do to make it fit? will I have to buy the 03 to 05 style seat belt guide and fit it to the seat, will they even work with the seat in the 06 and newer. has anybody ran into this problem. the bmw parts guys cant answer these issues so i need to pick your brains!! thanks guys! |

I haven't heard of this "Chrome Line" retrofit kit, but what type of seats do you have in your car, the regular seats or the sport ones? You can easily tell by the headrest. If you have an adjustable headrest you have the regular seats; if the headrest is built into the seat then its the sport seat.

ok
their regular seats and the part is the peice of bright work on the seat belt guide, adds a bit of detail to the seat. the part can be found here. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...12&hg=51&fg=95 since all these are ended for the most part, i wanted them as they are no longer produced and give the interior a little nicer detail. as i said the door handles work fine as the headrest but the seat belt guids are a no go, i bet that i need to change the guides to the older style but not sure if they fit. can anybody else chime in and say wheather the newer seat belt guides can be swaped out for the older style? |

I wasn't aware that the seat belt guides changed in 2006, are you sure of that? I thought they remained the same throughout the 2003-2008 production.
It is probably the case that if they DID change, you would need the old ones. I can tell you how to remove the silver piece on the guide (remove headrest, you'll see the torx bolt once you remove the headrest), but if you need to replace the entire guide, you are going to have to remove the seats (4 bolts, and an elctrical connection beneath the seat...DISCONNECT THE BATTERY!), and then remove the seatback to get access to the bolts holding the seatbelt guide in. If you wouldn't mind, can you post pictures showing the chrome line finish vs. the regular finish? Maybe show the door handles or something...

OK, just went on EBay and saw the 06-08 guides...they are indeed different from 03-05.
You got it, the only way you are going to use those covers is to swap the guides to the older style. Sorry man.

Nah, I like my silver seatbelt guides, but thanks
Honestly, maybe try EBay. I know its a fat chance since people want to sell the whole seat assembly, but its worth a shot. Yeah, if you want to post a pic of the new 'chrome line' door pulls vs. your silver ones, I'd be curious to see what the deal is. I think M cars might come standard with these, but I could be wrong.
